3 Annual Gala FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2018 BOARD OF DIRECTORS Dear Supporter, I hope this letter finds you well, both personally and professionally. I m writing to invite you to attend the annual Son of a Saint Gala on Friday, November 30. The Gala is our most important fundraising event of the year, providing a sizable percentage of the organization s annual operating budget, critical funding we rely upon in executing our mission of providing fatherless boys with the support, experiences and tools they need to become productive men. SON OF A SAINT IS GROWING. We currently have 80 young men in the program, ranging in age from 10 to 18. Also, with a sense of pride we re following the collegiate careers of the first four Son of a Saint graduates, who are currently pursuing undergraduate degrees at New Orleans universities, each the first in his family to attend college. A bright future is never guaranteed, and even less so for boys growing up without access to a father figure. It s a painful truth that statistics put in stark relief fatherless homes produce 85% of the youth prison population, 71% of high school dropouts and 75% of male patients in chemical abuse centers. SON OF A SAINT EXISTS FOR THESE BOYS. Those in our program, and those who will be providing a necessary intervention at a critical time. We give them hope, vision, opportunity and, above all, the benefit of a good example, in the form of a dedicated Son of a Saint mentor.
