Each speaker will begin at 9:30 am. June features local scholars, ministers, and advocates. We will be talking about the church, its current context in a post-religious age, and exploring how our faith forms our perspective on issues of food, health, and housing. June 3 Ryan Newson What is the Church? On Listening to Oneself, Others, and God Summer Sundays 9:30-10:30 AM Ryan Newson is assistant professor of Theology and Ethics at Campbell University. He is the author of Radical Friendship (2017) and Inhabiting the World (2018), as well as coeditor of The Collected Works of James Wm. McClendon, Jr. His work sits at the intersection of ecclesiology, political theology, theology and science, and moral formation. June 10 Nicole Johnson Food, Faith, and Wholeness Nicole Johnson is a Regional Coordinator for Partners in Health and Wholeness, a branch of the North Carolina Council of Churches. She has a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Sustainability from Wake Forest University, and she is deeply convicted in her belief that faithful congregations can meet the environmental, social and ethical challenges of the 21st century in practical and tangible ways. June 17 Tripp Fuller A Post-Religious Age of Faith Tripp has been the host of the podcast Homebrewed Christianity for the past ten years and recently completed a PhD in Theology from Claremont Graduate University. He is a competitive homebrewer, theology nerd, minister, Lakers fan, husband to Alecia, and father to Elgin, Khora, and Haven. Tripp will help us explore our new post-religious context and what that means for the church. June 24 Samuel Gunter Affordable Housing in North Carolina Samuel Gunter is a native Texan, a graduate of Duke Divinity School, and previously served at Habitat for Humanity of Wake County before becoming Director of Policy and Advocacy at the North Carolina Housing Coalition, located in Raleigh. Samuel has also served in the Peace Corps (Morocco) and as a minister in churches in North Carolina and Texas. The Millbrook Mission: We share God s love by being an open and inclusive community of faith, developing Christian disciples through spiritual growth, and serving the world through mission and ministry.

Next outing is in the works so contact Grady or Cher Moss if you d like to join this fun group for dinner. Labyrinth Committee - by Leslie Ratliff The Labyrinth Committee sponsored Worship in the Gardens on Saturdays, May 5th and 19th. The services showcased Millbrook s interns, both of whom did a great job, and the church s labyrinth and lovely grounds. Holli designed the services in two parts with the first part focusing on worship and the second part focusing more on meditation and prayer. During the second part, many of those in attendance walked the labyrinth or learned about essential oils and some of their healing properties. It was lovely to have the birds and the cool breeze be part of the service! Our second service was held indoors due to rain and stations were offered for reflection throughout the church. The Committee continues to need assistance with the hard work of keeping up the labyrinth gardens. We meet regularly on the first Saturday of each month at 8:30 AM to weed, mulch, and do other maintenance. You can stay for 30 minutes or 3 hours. Please join us
