2 Faith Nurturing In a class on Christian theology we were asked to write a term paper on what we thought was the most important belief of the Christian faith. I chose hope. It is through the resurrection of Jesus that we get our hope, so we can live life without a lot of worry. Our hope lies in the empty tomb to show that death is not the final answer. Easter shows us that God cares very much about us. Easter then becomes the most important day in Christian Churches everywhere. It should be a time of celebration. The week before Easter is referred to as Holy Week to help us remember the last days of Jesus and to put us in the proper mood for the holiest time of the Christian calendar. Our church has prepared opportunities for prayer and worship to help us observe Easter with reverence and gratitude. Holy Week Schedule March 25 th 10:00 a.m. Sunday Palm Sunday Worship March 29 th 7:00 p.m. Thursday Maundy Thursday Service with new communion trays March 30 th 7:00 p.m. Friday Good Friday Service at Raymore Christian Church March 31 st 7:00 a.m. Saturday 24 Hour Prayer Vigil begins April1 1 st 7:00 a.m. Sunday 24 Hour Prayer Vigil ends. 7:00 a.m. Sunday Easter Sunrise Service with baptisms 8:00 a.m. Sunday Easter Breakfast sponsored by the CMF and the Youth 9:00 a.m. Sunday Sunday School 10:00 a.m. Sunday Easter Service with Choir Cantata 11:15 a.m. Sunday Easter Egg Hunt Camp Now is the time to time to decide if you are going to church camp. Early Bird Registration is APRIL 1. Ask Ms. Ginny for a schedule. 24 Hours of Prayer The elders are sponsoring a 24 hour prayer vigil for our church. You are asked to devote at least 30 minutes to prayer during day before Easter. There is a sign-up poster on the bulletin Board outside the Education Office to indicate the time you will do this. You can pray at home or you can pray in the Corder Room. This room is by the kitchen. It will contain a setting for private prayer complete with communion elements. It is the desire that our congregation will have the 24 hours before Easter engaged in prayer.
3 Saturday CWF will meet on March 31 st at 9:00 a.m. to help stuff Easter eggs. CWF has the opportunity to help support disabled veterans by collecting used stamps that can be used for their therapy. We don t need the whole envelope, but please leave some of the envelope around the stamp. Debbie Person will deliver them to her Missouri Retired Teachers meetings to be delivered to the disabled veterans. Look for a baggie on the CWF bulletin board. Regional Evening CWF will meet on Thursday, April 26 th at First Christian Church, Independence. Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner and the program. Dinner costs $6.00 and registrations must by in by Friday, April 20 th. Please let Ginny know if you are interested in attending, so she can make the reservations. Regional CWF service project for April, May, and June is the collection of any size diapers for Micah Ministry which is housed at Independence Boulevard Christian Church. The diapers can be left in the narthex or in Ginny s office. An Important Reminder Don t forget to bring your Best Choice bar codes and Box Tops for Education labels to the church. They go for a very good cause. Bags are on the bulletin board in the hallway across from the church offices. We really appreciate your help. When Christian Women s Fellowship reaches 1,000 Best Choice bar codes they are awarded money for reaching that goal. This money helps with our outreach contributions, so please remember to bring your Best Choice bar codes. There is now a box in the narthex for Best Choice bar codes and Box Tops for Education, in addition to the bags on the CWF bulletin board in the hallway.
