1 JULY, 2018The Grapevine Cove Spring Church ~ 5705 Walnut Grove Road ~ Troy, Ohio ~ ~ Pastor Greg Morrow The Forgotten Power of Waiting on the Lord Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. -Isaiah 40:31.We are living in a generation where the power of waiting on the Lord needs to be rediscovered. It is not surprising that many Christians today are not acquainted with this spiritual practice. Our culture is beyond busy and the prospect of sitting quietly for long periods of time alone with God can sound unproductive. The irony is that precisely because our lives are so busy we need this spiritual practice more than ever. So what is waiting on the Lord? Waiting on the Lord is getting alone and quiet before God. Not saying anything and not expecting Him to say anything, though if he does great. Waiting on God is simple being okay with just being with God for a period of time. It is hard to overestimate the spiritual power that comes into our lives through this practice. First of all it helps break us out of the grip of performance orientation. You know that nagging sense that makes you feel like you always have to be accomplishing something to be valuable? As you wait on the Lord you gain an awareness that you are infinitely valuable before God because of who you are as one created in is image not because of what you accomplish. Secondly waiting on God helps you to see how precious your love is to Him. It begins to dawn on you that God is not always demanding that you to do something for Him. He is interested in your attention. That is all. He enjoys you so much He takes delight in you simply fixing your attention on Him for a moment. Then of course there is what this month s text clearly promises spiritual strength. Waiting on God is a means of grace through which God imparts His strength to us. Faithfully, Pastor Greg Morrow 1

Please plan to be a part of this important meeting at 7:30pm. MEN S BIBLE STUDY July 21 Our men s Bible Study class lead by Mr. John Fulton, will meet again July 21 at 7:30 A.M Saturday morning. The class meets every third Saturday morning of the month. Open to all men of the church and community. We look forward to your presence. HOME GROUP BIBLE STUDY AND FELLOWSHIP The Home Group Bible Study will take a summer recess beginning with the end of June and resuming in September. Further details in August newsletter. The Flag s Symbolism It was first decreed that there should be a star and a stripe for each state, making thirteen of both; for the states at the time had just been erected from the original thirteen colonies. The colors of the Flag may be thus explained: The red is for valor, zeal and fervency; the white for hope purity, cleanliness of life, and rectitude of conduct; the blue, the color of heaven, for reverence to God, loyalty, sincerity, justice and truth. The star (an ancient symbol of India, Persia and Egypt) symbolized dominion and sovereignty, as well as lofty aspirations. The constellation of the stars within the union, one star for each state, is emblematic of our Federal Constitution, which reserves to the States their individual sovereignty except as to rights delegated by them to the Federal Government. The symbolism of the Flag was thus interpreted by Washington: We take the stars from Heaven, the red from our mother country, separating it by white stripes, thus showing that we have separated from her, and the white stripes shall go down to posterity representing Liberty. Thanks to everyone who provided food and prepared the dinner. It was wonderful. And, to those who have set up tables and chairs so often lately. Thank you.
