Call to Worship: Psalms 96, 98 O sing to the LORD a new song, for God has done marvelous things. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; Let the fields be jubilant, and the trees of the forest sing for joy! Make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing. O sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. *Hymn: #821 "How Can I Keep from Singing?" 3 Anthem: "Saints Bound for Heaven" arr. Helvey The Choir From Egypt's yoke set free; Hail the glorious jubilee. And to Canaan we'll return, by and by. Our bondage it shall end, by and by. Our Deliverer will come, by and by. And our sorrows have an end, With our threescore years and ten, And vast glory crown the day, by and by. Though our enemies are strong, we'll go on. Though our hearts dissolve with fear, Lo! Sinai's God is near, While the fiery pillar moves, we'll go on. And when to Jordan's flood, we are come: Jehovah rules the tide, And the waters He'll divide, And the ransomed host shall shout, "We are come!" By and by, We'll go on! A Scripture Conversation Old Testament Lesson: Isaiah 55:1-3b, Page: OT 685 Isaiah 25:6-10a Page: OT 652 Sermon: *Hymn: #297 "Going On" "In Christ Called to Baptize" The Sacrament of Baptism Presentation and Promises *Affirmation of Faith: The Apostles Creed Do you believe in God the Father? 4 Do you believe in God the Son? I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he arose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. Do you believe in God the Holy Spirit? I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Tell to all the joyful gospel. Hallelujah! We sing your praises; all our hearts are filled with gladness. Hallelujah! For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. 11 A New Hymnal "O sing to the Lord a new song, for God has done marvelous things!" --Psalm 96 Our new hymnals are here!! This new hymnal, Glory to God, contains over 800 hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs. Approximately 50% are from the 1990 hymnal. The remaining pieces are from former Presbyterian hymnals, other denominational songbooks, and individual authors and composers. At New Castle Presbyterian, we have been using selections from Glory to God for the past two years in worship. We still need contributions to the finance this project. Envelopes are available in the pews to make a donation. The price of each hymnal is $ You may dedicate your contribution in honor or in memory of a loved one, and this will be acknowledged on a nameplate in the front of the hymnal. We currently have received $1, to offset the $3798 spent from Special Gifts to pre-order our 200 copies. The Worship Committee thanks you for your support of this new venture! To celebrate and introduce our new hymnals, join us for a hymn festival on November 10 th. "To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen." --Phil.4:20

Stewardship 2014 Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. - I Peter 4:10 For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has not according to what one does not have. - II Corinthians 8:12 New Castle Presbyterian Church is about to begin a new year of God s grace. Each of us has an opportunity to demonstrate the faith that God has given us, with whatever gift God has given us. In the coming weeks, you will hear testimonies from members as to how God has made a difference in their lives and how this church has been a part of that. Consider the goodness of God in this place, and consider the opportunity to support this Body of Christ into the future. Make plans to attend our annual Stewardship Brunch today after worship to hear more about what God is doing in our midst! Sign up today in the Fellowship Hall! Service of Ordination and Installation Community Presbyterian Church The congregation of Community Presbyterian Church on 519 Rogers Rd in New Castle, proudly invites you to share in the joy of the ordination and installation of the Reverend Frederick A. Hanna as Pastor, Teaching Elder and Minister of Word and Sacrament. They are excited about the future ministry of their church and this new leadership! A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

Seamen s Center Christmas At Sea The Mission and Outreach Committee would like to remind everyone that we will again be supporting the Seamen s Center Christmas at Sea program this December. As in past years, we hope to provide 30 to 40 ditty boxes which include various items such as shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, candy, etc., as well as hand knitted scarves and hats. Over 1,300 ditty boxes are given each year to the seamen who arrive at our port by ship during the month of December. This is our opportunity as a church and as individuals to be a part of the bigger world as we share our resources and our gratitude with those who work hard all year long to provide us with essential goods. For those wishing to participate, please see the poster in Fellowship Hall. Items should be delivered to church by today. We will be assembling the boxes on Sunday, November 10 th after worship. Anyone with questions about the program should contact Ellie Gerhart ( ) or Barbara Whisman ( ).

Spirit of Christmas Saturday, December 14 Craft Table Everyone is encouraged to start working at home on items you may want to contribute to Spirit of Christmas. We will welcome more pocketbooks, mittens, ornaments, scarves, etc. which many of you have already perfected, or surprise us with something entirely new! The church craft room upstairs is stocked with material, yarn, buttons, and zippers for your use. Please call Ellie Gerhart ( ) or Barbara Whisman ( ) if you have any questions. Spirit of Christmas - Saturday, December 14 Look What $20 Can Buy It s time to think about donations for the Look What $20 Can Buy. This is one of our most popular and revenue producing tables at Spirit of Christmas, and we have earned the reputation of having quality items. Visitors actually do their Christmas gift buying here, so let s make it a fun place to shop! Gift certificates for restaurants or donations from your favorite retail store worth $30 or more are very popular. We also need donations from individuals of new (or like new) items that have a $30 value or more. Re-gifting is a great way to support our event. Brochures of Friendship House are available in the church office for your use when soliciting a donation. Any questions about what to donate or arrangements for the storage of items until December 14, call Joan Appleby

BREAD AND SOUP MAKERS FOR SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS December 14, 2013 At the Spirit of Christmas celebration this year, we would like to offer not only your delicious homemade soups and bread for sale, but also your homemade pickles, jams, candy, and jellies. Labels, bread bags, and soup containers are available in the kitchen on November 17th. Please bring the items in jars. You can deliver your soups and breads/cookies/sweets on Friday, December 13 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. at the C.E. building. Bless you for sharing your gifts for our gifts for our Christmas Charities. Susan Townsend Ray Snyder, Janet Reed,

Donate a Frozen Turkey If you earn credit for a free turkey this fall please consider donating that free turkey to a Christmas Food Basket project being organized by the Newark Area Welfare Committee. Beverly Stoudt is co-chairperson of this large undertaking. Approximately 375 families and senior citizens will receive a week s worth of non-perishable food on Saturday December 21. Each basket also will be accompanied by a lb. frozen turkey for Christmas dinner. Many grocery stores are offering bargain prices and offers of free turkeys before Thanksgiving. And, some companies give their employees a free turkey for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. If you have accumulated credit or expect a gift of a turkey and do not want it, please consider giving it to our Christmas Food Basket project. We will need your donated turkey any time before Sat. Dec. 21. If you plan to donate please call Beverly Stoudt, as soon as you get the turkey, at to arrange for pick up and storage. We have a facility that will store as many turkeys as we can get. If you would like to bring your donated turkey to any Sunday church service that would be wonderful and hopefully easy for your family. Put it in the kitchen freezer and tell Beverly it is there. If you want to purchase a turkey and donate it we will be very grateful. Remember the prices are much better before Thanksgiving than after. We will pledge a turkey. We will bring our donated turkey to church. We do not have space to store a turkey and will need to have our donated turkey picked up. Please call our family at. Thank you for considering this loving project and taking the time to secure a frozen turkey. Beverly Stoudt ( ) Newark Area Welfare Committee P.O. Box 951, Newark, DE 19715
