1 . August..... October. October : MERRILL'S HORSE, ALSO KNOWN AS SECOND REGIMENT MISSOURI VOLUNTEER CAVALRY. THREE YEARS' SERVICE. Ten companies of this Regiment (from A to K inclusive) were organized at Benton Barracks, St. Louis, Mo., from September 3 to December 11, 1861, and Companies L and Mat St. Louis and Warrenton, Mo., January i and June 30, 1S63, to serve three years. Companies B, C, and K, whose rosters are here given, were enhsted at Cincinnati, Ohio, and were officered by Ohio men; they were also furnished with recruits from this State from time to time. Some recruits, enlisted in Ohio for this Regiment, were assigned to the other companies, and their records are here given in their proper companies. The original members (except veterans) were mustered out as their terms of service expired, and the organization, composed of veterans and recruits, retained in the service until September 19, 1S65, when it was mustered out at Nashville, Tenn., in accordance with orders from the War Department.
