Felt weak and were unsure if you can keep going? This summer I felt that way many times. The theme verses for this summer were 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 which say, But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. God made these verses real to me this summer. There were some new struggles this year that were added to the normal summer camp issues. I had an 8 month old that had 6 new teeth come in during summer camp, so less sleep and more ehaustion. I had multiple staff members get sick and need to sit out a day, or be replaced for the week. We lost power for half a day, and our waterslide had almost daily maintenance issues. Through it all, I was able to see God s hand at work. I was truly able to say that God used my weakness to help me depend more on His strength. I felt weak this summer, but God gave me the strength that I needed to totally depend on Him. Our main prayer for the summer was that campers' hearts would be drawn closer to Christ and learn to totally trust in Him for their strength. Here is a list of the most important numbers from the summer: Summer Commitments: - 7 Campers Accepted Christ for the 1st time - 3 Campers Rededicated their lives to Christ - 42 Prayed for Assurance of their Salvation - 25 Made other specific commitments (i.e. Read the Bible daily. Be the church, not just at church, but everywhere. Remember that God loves her no matter what.) Thank you for your prayers for me and the summer staff as we served here at Cove Valley Camp this summer. Eric Roth Program Director This past summer was filled with many fun times as well as a lot of spiritually enriching times. Personally, I had a blast playing sports, being in the pool, and just having fun with the campers each week. It was incredible to see how God changed the lives of so many campers this summer. Several campers accepted Christ for the first time and many recommitted and rededicated their lives to Christ. One of my favorite parts of the summer was the last night of camp when we had a campfire. The campers were invited to share in a time of reflection on what they learned this past week or saw God do. It was truly incredible to see how God touched many campers hearts during that time as they shared what they learned and what commitments they had made. -Kyle Martin, Program Assistant This summer at Cove Valley was absolutely incredible. God never seems to fail to amaze me each year that I go to camp. This summer we had the privilege of having more campers come from a different variety of places. We, as staff, had a blast ministering to these campers, and they were such a blessing to us as well. Being a staff member at camp brings great joy to my life as it allows me to invest into the lives of others. I see God move and do miraculous wonders in just about everything. This summer God bonded the staff in a way where we all came together when things got tough. When someone needed help, a staff member was always there to jump in and help that person. God used each and every single one of us as a team, and we learned more about how He works in our weaknesses. My God is incredible, and He will certainly continue to do great things at Cove Valley Camp. - Heidi Miller, Program Assistant Like Cove Valley Christian Youth Camp on Facebook to see more Summer Camp Pictures & Videos. 3 Page 3 Burt the Bodybuilder, Glamorous Gert, and Knowledgeable Kurt Strength. What is true strength? Is it the ability to benchpress 400 lbs and have huge muscles? Is it looking good? Having the right make-up/clothes/hairstyle? Is it having knowledge? Knowing facts about anything and everything? Having the mental fortitude to control your own destiny? These are some questions that were addressed this summer. To answer these questions, we brought in 3 special motivational speakers, Burt the Bodybuilder, Glamorous Gert, and Knowledgeable Kurt. On Monday evenings Bert would talk about how true strength was having large muscles. On Tuesday evenings, Gert would talk about how having the right make-up/clothes was true strength. On Wednesday evening, Kurt would talk about how true strength came from knowledge. All three said that their definition of true strength was the correct definition. On Thursday, all three had a problem. They had lost their strength! Burt s muscles disappeared, Gert couldn t fi her make-up and could only find one shoe, and Kurt couldn t remember anything. Since they had all lost their strength, they sent the campers on a quest to discover what makes true strength. By the end of the week, Burt, Gert, and Kurt had learned that true strength comes from God. They were able to quote the summer s theme verse, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Burt, Gert, and Kurt learned along with the campers that true strength doesn t come from anything that we can do, but it comes from God alone. When we are weak, He gives us the strength that we need. Family Camp and Golden Age Retreat This summer's camps were bookended by our Golden Age Retreat and Family Camp. Both retreats allowed friends to get together and reconnect with each other and with the Lord. Thirty-nine Golden Agers enjoyed the week at Cove Valley where they could rela, fellowship and hear from the work of God. Shuffleboard, auctions and a tour were part of the week. Thirty eight families attended Family Camp and were challenged by the messages that Travis Zimmerman brought from the Lord. Travis and his son made quite an impression on those who attended.

They also place great emphasis on service to God, family, community, and country. We seek to grow young men and women of integrity. For more information about Trail Life USA, please visit www. traillifeusa.com and for more information about American Heritage Girls, please visit Both programs are run entirely with the help of trained volunteers and are funded through donations, program fees and fundraisers.
