1 January 18, 2019 Pheobe-Tate Anderson Our club held our January meeting at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds on January 18, 2019.Our before meeting activity was to make sock valentines for the Wildwood Nursing Center, Discovery Commons. We also did a STEM activity making foil boats and seeing which groups could hold the most pennies without sinking. Our meeting was called to order at 8:15, the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Joe Beale and the 4-H Pledge was led by Austin Graves. Demonstration topics for this meeting were Rabbits, Hobbies, and Photography. Lydia Eccleston presented a demonstration on, How to Show Rabbits. We discussed the following Old Business at our club meeting: Rescue Squad gift basket donation, Livestock knowledge practice on Jan. 4 th, Officers training on Jan. 5 th, Horse project interest meeting on Jan. 8 th, Steer Weigh-In on Jan. 12 th 9-10am, Volunteer social on Jan. 12 th, Senior 4-her portfolios due to state 4-h office for out-of-state trips by January 15 th, 2018 Dimond Clover reports due January 15 th, Holiday Workshop, County roller skating social, Club jackets, and Club plans for the year. We discussed the following New Business at our club meeting: our friend of 4-H for 2018, 2019 Youth Conservationist Program, 4-H Member enrollment due by January 31 st, need for volunteers including help for record book judging, robotics, crochet helpers, public speaking, livestock guest speaker, photography, sewing helpers, small pet care, videos, and Shooting sports. We also discussed the leaders meeting, volunteer hours, Maryland 4-H Gala Jan. 20 th was cancelled, Livestock knowledge practice Feb. 1 st 6-8pm, Ear orders due by Feb. 1 st, Dairy Skillathon on Feb. 9 th at 9:30 am at Carroll County Agriculture Center, MD 4-H dog Skillathon on Feb. 10 th at 1pm at UMD, St. Mary s County Skillathon on Feb. 16 th at St. Mary s County Fairgrounds from 9am 1pm, SOMD Robotics Competition on Feb. 16 th at 9am at the Charles County Extension Office, Public Speaking Workshop on March 8 th at the Conference Center in Leonardtown from 6:00-7:30pm, St. Mary s County 4-H Public Speaking Contest on March 29 th at 4-H Office Conference room from 6-8pm, and the Annual 4-H Banquet on March 16 th. Thank you to Kyle Russell for bringing snacks and Patricia Krohn for bringing drinks. At the next meeting, snacks will be from Ryleigh Vallandingham and drinks from Sydney Russell. The next meeting is on February 15 th at 6:30pm at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds. The meeting was adjourned at 9:17pm.

2 February 15, 2019 Pheobe-Tate Anderson The February meeting was called to order at 6:45pm on February 15th. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by Hannah Wathen and the 4-H Pledge was said by Derek VanRyswick. The roll call question was What is your Favorite color? Minutes of the last meeting were accepted by Matthew VanRyswick and 2 nd by Joe Beale. The treasurer s report was accepted by Trent Vallandingham and 2 nd by Delia Vallandingham. The topic for demonstrations for this meeting were crafts and goats. Next meeting is Visual Arts, Sheep, and Food. Old Business St. Mary s County 4-H Skillathon, February 16 th from 9:00am 1pm at the St. Mary s County fairgrounds, Southern Maryland Robotics Competition, February 16 th at 9:00at the Charles County Extension Office, Bel Alton, MD. Livestock Knowledge Practice, February 22 nd from 6-8pm at the Ag Service Center Conf. room, Maryland 4-H Horsemen s Party on February 21 st at 3pm at the Laurel Racetrack. Horse Power Hour on February 25 th from 6-8pm at the Ag Services Center Conference room. Military Partner Updates February 28 th from 9:30am-1:30pm at the Ag Library in College Park, the Maryland 4-H Livestock Skillathon Contest on March 2 nd at 8am. Horse Power Hour on March 4 th from 6-8pm at the Ag Services Center, the Public Speaking Workshop is on March 8 th from 6-8pm.Horse Power Hour is on March 11 th from 6-8pm,the 2019 Dimond Clover Level 1-5 plans are due on March 15 th at 4:30 at the 4-H Office. New Business We decided on our Friend of 4-H for 2018, gift idea, and read presentation at banquet. Need for volunteers including help with: Record book judging, robotics, crochet helpers, public speaking, livestock guest speaker, photography, sewing helpers, small pet care, videos, and shooting sports. Ear tag orders due February 1 st. Annual 4-H banquet on March 16 th at 5:30 at SAYSF Church California Maryland-helpers needed. Maryland 4-H Dairy Skillathon-Trent and Delia attended. After the meeting we made cards for Sending Smiles and collected nonperishable food and personal hygiene items for Helping Hands. Our next meeting is on March 15 th at the St. Mary s County Fairgrounds at 6:30pm. Thank you to Ryleigh Vallandingham for snacks and Sydney Russell for Drinks. For our next meeting Tabor Absher has snacks and Ayden and Alexis Strand have drinks. The February meeting was adjourned at 7:55.
