Thank You! On September 11, 2015, Missouri LICA members once again met at the Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, MO for a fun day of golfing, eating, laughing and even a little fishing! As a result of our members generosity, Missouri LICA was able to provide scholarships to three well-deserving students through our Missouri LICA Memorial Scholarship. We want to offer our special thanks to our Associates who sponsored holes, meals, prizes, goodie bags, and the beverage cart. 3 Page 3 Member News In Loving Memory We offer our deepest sympathy to the families of these LICA members during this time of sorrow. We will keep them in our hearts and prayers. Randy Acker, 56, of Windsor, Missouri, died peacefully at his home, Saturday morning, September 5, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends, after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of Missouri LICA member Chick and Joyce Acker. After graduating from Windsor High School, Randy worked as a heavy equipment operator in the Windsor area for many years, working with his father and later operating his own business. Kevin R. Rackers, 50, of New Bloomfield, Missouri passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at his residence. He was the son of Richard and Jean Rackers and is survived by his wife, Dana, and two sons, Zeb and Zack. Kevin owned and operated Kevin Rackers Excavating from 1996 to present and previously worked for MFA, Callaway Foundation and CL Richardson Excavating. He had been a member of Missouri LICA since Mark Your Calendar... 4 Page 4 Proposed By-Laws Change - Official Notice The MLICA Board of Directors voted at its October 24 meeting to present the following by-laws change to the MLICA membership for approval at its General Membership Meeting on January 23, 2016 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Columbia, MO. In the proposed by-laws change below, items in [brackets] will be removed and items in bold will be added. ARTICLE VII ORDER OF BUSINESS 1. Roll Call - Determine if Quorum A quorum for membership meetings is defined as follows: Except as may be from time to time otherwise provided by law, by the articles of incorporation of the Association, or by these bylaws, [ten] five percent of all members entitled to vote at any meeting shall constitute a quorum of all meetings of the members for the transaction of any business, and the act of the majority of a quorum present at any meeting shall constitute the act of the Association for all purposes, except as may be otherwise specifically provided by law. A lesser number than a quorum may adjourn from time to time until a quorum is secured, but no business may be transacted at any meeting unless a quorum is present. Our First MLICA Memorial Scholarship Winners The LICA Memorial Scholarship was established in 2015 to honor LICA members who are no longer with us by giving $1,000 scholarships to relatives of LICA members. This scholarship program is funded through the generous contributions at our Winter Auction, individual contributions of member families, and the Board of Directors. This year, MLICA was able to provide scholarships to three well-deserving students. We wish them the very best as they build their futures.
