1 Range will be open for daily members on Sundays only. Friday, Saturday, and Monday are for Clark Rifles INC. member, family and guests only. Range opens at 0900 Range hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. RSO may shoot until 6pm or dusk, whichever comes first Non-Members Cost: $15 Guest of member $5 Household Family of Member: no charge February 2014 President s Corner No missive from Bob this month His computer died. Bob Kadow President, Clark Rifles Inc. Remember...Safety First, Last and Always! Secretary s Scribblin s We receive a surprisingly high number of s from people that have visited our Range, either on Sundays but mostly as Guests of Members, complimenting us on how excellent of a facility we have and how safe they feel shooting here. Often times we only think of the present day, but the other day I was thinking of Members like Darrel Clark, Chet Plotner, Jim Clark, Orval Higdon, Frank Rausch, as well as a relative youngster Loren Peter, (whom is also a dang good Rifle Smith), but he has only been around the Range for 49 years and I prolly missed a few that are still around and either using or visiting the range. These are the ones that started Clark Rifles. the above named Members all having been with us 53 to going on 54 years. These were the men that had the vision and without whom we would not exist today. So as we go into our 54 th year of existence we all thank you. Membership renewal days are almost over and it looks like we will have a loss of 50 to 55 Members, barring a last minute run of renewals. Those vacancies will be quickly filled by people on the waiting list that have been waiting at this time for a period of two years or longer to join us. We will have a few Members whom have now lost their Membership tell us things like they didn t get a notice of renewal, we hear that every year - - but every member at Clark Rifles knows that we renew our Membership during the months of November and December with a Grace period that ends at Midnight January 31 st. If you failed to renew and are reading this you are invited to join the end of the waiting list don t call and tell me the dog ate your Membership renewal notice. The Annual Meeting was well attended. Around 60 Members showed up that s nearly three times better than last year. If you were not in attendance you missed a really good meeting and the opportunity to vote on some key issues. Additionally there was just some very good general discussion, a good time of asking and answering questions. One of the items approved by those in attendance is the expansion of the Pistol Range. We will be adding three firing points and arranging to have three of those firing to be in the 7 yard to 15 yard category. We will keep you posted on the Construction Schedule and hopefully only have to shut down on week days for a short period of time
2 RSO s should encourage shooters just starting out to use the 7 yard distance until they have really learned to shoot accurately and mastered their fire arm of choice. I shared the following with Dave Christie, Vice President of Clark Rifles, mainly I did so because he is a lot younger and hence less wise than I I was thinking the other day about driving and how going forward or going backward are the same thing well except for the Direction. They are the same because if you are going forward and point your front tires to the right you go to the right, and if you are going backwards and you point your front tires to the right you still go to the right - - right Anyway Dave is still trying to understand that and by the dents in his $107, Ford Pick Up Truck you can tell - - he ain t got it down just yet. (the $107, for his pick up is a lie - - I just like perpetuation it ) Truthfully yours. chuck RSO Desk: Jim Sevier RSO director clarksrso@gmail.com First, I would like to thank everybody that supported me and encouraged me to become a RSO which led me to become an assistant to Shaun. I learned a lot from working with him and taking many of his classes. Now that I am the Director of RSO s there should be few changes. Scheduling and notices will continue to be sent by . RSO S continue to be responsible for the safety of everyone on the range, which I think we do an outstanding job of. Please continue enforcing the rules, set by the Board of Directors, in a safe, courteous and polite manner. I look forward to working with all of you you are a great bunch of people. Don t hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or questions RSO re-certification: February 8th: 11am-1pm pizza provided. No pre-registration required! Come to the meeting bring your calendar, and get your 4-duty days scheduled. REMINDER starting February 1 the Range hours are 9 AM to 5 PM. RSO s may shoot until dusk but no later than 6pm.
