3 THURSDAY OFFICE HOURS Meet with the expert presenters of Midyear workshops in a one-on-one setting for private consultation in the Dixie Center Green Springs Room. FRIDAY GENERAL SPEAKER David Church Open and Public Meetings, and then some! Long-time ULCT Attorney David Church will explain everything you need to know about how, when and why your public meetings need to be open, and tell stories about some of the consequences faced when communities go rogue. He s smart, he s funny, and he s got great personal experiences to share from his 20-something years working for Utah s cities. You re in for a treat with the seasoned, sage advice of a ULCT favorite. FRIDAY KEYNOTE SPEAKER G.T. Bynum Mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma Moneyball for Government Fellow, Mayor G.T. Bynum, truly embraces the concept of our Midyear theme New Days, New Ways. While serving as the youngest city council member in Tulsa, Oklahoma s history, he was invited to participate in the Moneyball program. It s based on the philosophy of Billy Beane, Executive V.P. of the Oakland A s, who transformed baseball by ignoring the scouts and using data to build championship teams on a limited budget. Moneyball for Government encourages governments at all levels to use data when investing limited taxpayer dollars. Now he and his team are channeling the pioneering spirit of his community to create new opportunity with data-driven decision making.
