15 Checked by Pauline and Stewart Austerfield Graham Webb Crossbill in the forest This picture of a male Crossbill was taken by Graham Webb at his home Tangham Cottages in the forest (just in the Hollesley parish). There have been several flocks of these around this spring, especially on Upper Hollesley Common. Some may have bred. Spring Crossbills are often a sign of birds having failed to breed or, maybe, having finished breeding as sometimes they start very early, possibly in January. Nick Mason
