2 Exodus 14:19-22 The angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them, and stood behind them. It came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud and the darkness, yet gave it light by night: and the one didn t come near the other all the night. Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. The children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. Exodus 14:24 It happened in the morning watch, that the LORD looked out on the Egyptian army through the pillar of fire and of cloud, and confused the Egyptian army. Exodus 14:27-29 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the middle of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. But the children of Israel walked on dry ground in the middle of the sea; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. Exodus 14:31a And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did on the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses. Mark 3:1-6 He entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there who had his hand withered. They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him. He said to the man who had his hand withered, Stand up. He said to them, Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill? But they were silent. When he had looked around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their hearts, he said to the man, Stretch out your hand. He stretched it out, and his hand was restored 2

3 as healthy as the other. The Pharisees went out, and immediately conspired with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him. Exodus 15:22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. Exodus 15:23,24 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Exodus 15:25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. Exodus 16:4,5 Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. Exodus 16:25-29 Moses said, Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the LORD. Today you shall not find it in the field. Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day is the Sabbath. In it there shall be none. It happened on the seventh day, that some of the people went out to gather, and they found none. The LORD said to Moses, How long do you refuse to keep my commandments and my laws? Behold, because the LORD has given you the Sabbath, therefore he gives you on the sixth day the bread of two days. Everyone stay in his place. Let no one go out of his place on the seventh day. Exodus 17:1b-3 and there was no water for the people to drink. Why the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give 3

4 us water that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why chide you with me? why do ye tempt the LORD? And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Why is this that you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? Exodus 17:4-8 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do to this people? they be almost ready to stone me. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with you of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, with which you smote the river, take in your hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not? Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. Exodus 17:15,16 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi: For he said, Because the LORD has sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. Tu B Shevat 15 th of Shevat is Today! Leviticus 19:23-25a And when you shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised to you: it shall not be eaten of. But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD with. And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof. Psalm 66:4 All the earth shall worship you, and shall sing unto you; they shall sing to your name. Selah. Psalm 92:12-15 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree. He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the LORD s house. They will flourish in our God s courts. They will still bring forth fruit in old age. They will be full of sap and green, to show that the LORD is upright. He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. The Entrance of Sin into the World Romans 5:12 Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned. Job 36:2,3 Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God s behalf. I will get my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker. 4

Jeremiah 2:4-8 Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel! Thus says the LORD, What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain? Neither did they say, Where is the LORD who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that none passed through, and where no man lived? I brought you into a plentiful land, to eat its fruit and its goodness; but when you entered, you defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination. The priests didn t say, Where is the LORD? and those who handle the law didn t know me. The rulers also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. Micah 6:2,3 Hear, you mountains, the LORD s controversy, and you enduring foundations of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel. My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me! Ecclesiastes 7:29 Behold, this only have I found: that God made man upright; but they search for many schemes. Acts 7:51-53 You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers did, so you do. Which of the prophets didn t your fathers persecute? They killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One, of whom you have now become betrayers and murderers. You received the Torah as it was ordained by angels, and didn t keep it! 2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. John 3:16,17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God didn t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him. Jeremiah 10:12 He has made the earth by his power, he has established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding has he stretched out the heavens: 5

6 Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart. Isaiah 65:2,3a I have spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, after their own thoughts; a people who provoke me to my face continually, Jeremiah 11:6-8 The LORD said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear the words of this covenant, and do them. For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice. Yet they didn t obey, nor turn their ear, but walked everyone in the stubbornness of their evil heart: therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do, but they didn t do them. Colossians 3:5,6 Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry; for which things sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse. Romans 1:24,25 Therefore God also gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Romans 1:28-32 Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers, backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them. What we know from the Bible 1. God seeks to reason and persuade us from sinning. 2. By virtue of free will bestowed upon us were given the ability to resist all of God s appeals. 3. God has personally involved Himself in our tragedy. 6

7 4. Sin did not enter because man was created deficient in any way. 5. The Bible attributes creation to the goodness and wisdom of God. 6. Holiness and happiness is always God s will for us while sin is always contrary to His will. Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law said, it said to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Jonah 3:9,10 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do to them; and he did it not. 1Chronicles 21:15 And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now your hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 7

11 Best Practices Thank you for joining us today at El Shaddai Ministries! In order to bless and protect our congregation, we have put some guidelines in place and ask those attending to observe these to the best of their ability. Please return promptly and quietly to your seats after the break. Please turn cell phone off or set to vibrate. Parents please monitor your children and keep them from roaming the hallways or lobby area. They should be in class or seated with you. At the close of the service please take your items, i.e. notes etc. to respect the cleanliness of the Sanctuary. Please return any unmarked notes you do not wish to keep to the box at the back table. Please dress modestly so as not to be a distraction to others, and dress your best to honor God, and in respect of the Sabbath. ONEG (Potluck Lunch) It has been a long standing tradition at El Shaddai Ministries to fellowship together after the service every 2 nd Saturday by sharing a meal. El Shaddai Ministries provides all the beverages for the break and oneg. Please do not add items to the table. Bring items to oneg staff in kitchen. If you are blessed to be able to bring a dish for oneg, please observe the following guidelines: All items must be checked in with the oneg staff. Items not checked in will not be served. All items must be marked with your name and phone number. Only bring Biblically clean foods, i.e. NO pork, shellfish, or gelatin products. Please bring fresh cooked dishes and not leftovers. Packaged food must be unopened. Also after ONEG make sure to take your dishes and utensils home. If there is any question as to these standards please discuss with the Zakens after the service. We ask that you let seniors; first time visitors and those with mobility issues go first in line. Parents of small children please help your child with their plates. Also PLEASE be courteous in the ONEG line and be observant of those around you, so others may get a generous helping of food as well. THANK YOU AND ENJOY THE FELLOWSHIP!
