The Old Testament is FEEPS - Figures, Examples, Ensamples, Patterns, and Shadows. 2. FEEPS paint a picture in the Old Testament but the reality is found in New Testament truth. 3. Hebrew letters were originally drawn as pictographs that illustrate God s picture. 4. God s FEEPS in the Old Testament pictographs help us better understand the family. 5. Adam correctly named the animals, calling them based on what he saw. The Old Testament is FEEPS God uses Old Testament Hebrew pictographs to define and the reality of that picture is found in the New Testament FEEPS is an acronym that describes the Old Testament. It stands for: FIGURES - Heb. 9:9, 24 o The Old Testament happenings under the Mosaic law (Heb. 9:7-8) was a figure of the New Testament o In the tabernacle, the high priest went into the holy of holies and offered sacrifice for himself and the errors of the people o The Old Testament is a picture of the New Testament o Christ entering in is not a figure; the Old Testament things were figures of the New EXAMPLES - 1 Cor. 10:6; Heb. 8:5 o God did great things in the Old Testament but it is nothing compared to what happens to us in the New Testament o Heb. 8:5 - examples and shadows of heavenly things What Moses did was NOT the heavenly things but what He did was an example, shadow, patterns of those heavenly things ENSAMPLES - 1 Cor. 10:11 PATTERNS - Heb. 8:5; 9:23 o In the Old Testament, things were purified by the sacrifices (oxen, bulls, turtle doves) but these were patterns of things in heaven o Ex. You cannot wear the pattern of a suit or drive the little model of a car o Don t try to take the Old Testament and make it into the New Testament - it s a figure, example, ensample, pattern, and shadow 1

2 SHADOWS - Heb. 8:5; Col. 2:16-17 o Heb. 8:5 - examples and shadows of heavenly things o Col. 2: the sabbath days, meat, and drink of the Old Testament were simply shadows Ex. We are not required to have service or worship on Saturdays in order to keep the Sabbath day holy - that is a shadow Ex. We don t have to abstain from eating certain meats - that is a shadow In the Old Testament, when Noah came from the ark they could eat any meat (Gen. 9:3-4) then under the law of Moses they were not allowed to eat swine but that was only until they made it to the promised land (Deut. 12:20-22) In the New Testament, 1 Tim. 4:1-4 is relevant now we can eat meat including swine FEEPS SUMMARY We have to teach and preach the Old Testament but we have to keep it in perspective with all the Old Testament we have to look at, what does this have to do with Jesus Christ and us in the New Testament? Heb. 10:5, 7 Jesus tells us in the volume of the book it is written of me FEEPS is important because it shows us a picture of New Testament truth FEEPS of BOOK Strong s Numbers tells where a Hebrew or Greek word is in alphabetical order Book (Gen. 5:1) is translated from Cepher ר פ ס (S:5612) ס o 1. First letter is Samek Samek was originally drawn as a picture of a foundation, a support פ o 2. Second letter is Pey Pey was originally drawn as a picture of a mouth ר o 3. Third letter is Resh Resh was originally drawn as a picture of man s head God s picture (FEEPS) of a book: The book is to support the mouth of a man FEEPS of MALE & FEMALE Gen. 1:27 - male and female created he them. The word male (Gen. 1:27) is zakar ר כ ז (S:2145) 2

3 o ז 1. The first letter is Zayin This was originally drawn as a picture of a mattock, now like an ax tool כ o 2. The second letter is Kaph This was originally drawn as a picture of the palm of a hand ר o 3. The third letter is Resh This was originally a picture of a man s head God s picture of a male: a tool in the hand of a man, a head with a tool in his hand The word female (Gen. 1:27) is neqebah נ ה ב ק (S:5347) נ o 1. The fourth letter was Hey At the end of a word Hey speaks of what comes from God s picture of a female: a house with a hole that the seed passes through Male joins or unites with female and with God s FEEPS, the distinction between male and female is clear FEEPS of FATHER & MOTHER The word father (Gen. 2:24) is from the Hebrew root ab אָ ב (S:1) א o 1. The first letter is Aleph Picture of an ox speaks of strength, first ב o 2. The second letter is Beth Picture of a house, tent God s picture of a father: the strength of the house, first in the house o Those in the house are to be submissive to him The word mother (Gen. 2:24) is from the Hebrew root em ם א (S:517) א o 1. 4 Picture of water God s picture of a mother: first water, first nourisher, first drink o Mother and father both have strength, first (Aleph) but the father is #1 in the house o A baby s first drink comes from mom FEEPS of LOVE Love and its variations (loveth, loving) is used 555 times o Christ is used 555 times as well Christ loved the church The word for love (Gen. 22:2) is ahab אָה ב (S:157) o The first letter (Aleph (א and last letter (Beth (ב spell ab, which means father ה o The middle letter was Hey Hey was a picture of a man beholding In the middle of a word, Hey spoke of the heart of something or revealing something God s picture of love: the heart of a father, looking into or revealing the heart of a father o Many people are confused and messed up today because fathers are supposed to show what love is and what love is about o Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it (Eph. 5:25) o For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son (John 3:16) the heart of the father depicts love and God loved us so much that He revealed His heart and gave His Son God didn t just crucify His baby; God was made into flesh Himself FEEPS of FAITH מ א ן The word faith (Deut. 32:20) is eemun (S:529) o The first two letters spell the word em, mother ן o The last letter is Nun God s picture: the activity of a mother o Mother depicts faith, truth, trusting 4

5 ADAM CALLED" THE ANIMALS Gen. 2:19 God brought the animals to Adam to see what he would call them He would call is yiqraa א ר ק יּ from the word call which is qara א ר ק (S:7121) o This is the same word for preach what Adam did is equivalent to preaching ק o 1. The first letter is Quph Originally drawn as an eye of a needle Speaks of consolidating or bringing everything together, 100%, getting it all together o The second and third letter spell the word ra ר א which means to see Jehovahjireh, Yireh (Gen. 22:14) the Lord sees Whatever Adam ended up calling them, that was the name thereof Adam got it right he looked at it, put it all together, saw it coming all together and from what he saw, he built the name of the animal FEEPS of HORSE The word for horse (Gen. 49:17) is cuwc ס וּ ס (S:5483),ס o The first and last letter is Samek a picture of a support The horse s back was built for a purpose to support a load or a person Adam's picture of horse: When Adam saw a house, he picked samek because he knew it would support FEEPS of DOG The word for dog (Exo. 11:7) is keleb ב ל כּ (S:3611) o The first two letters kaph and lamed כ ל) ) spell a root word that means all or every kaal- ל כּ is translated every thing in Gen. 1:31 o The last two letters lamed and bet ) spell the root word, heart ל ב) Heart is S:3820 leb ב ל (Gen. 6:5) Adam s picture of dog: a dog is all heart o Adam looked it this animal and put these letters together because he could see that dog was all heart 5

The second letter is Hey,ה which at the end of a word means what comes from Adam s picture of lamb: something that was going to be destroyed, devoured o The Bible talks about the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Rev. 13:8) The Old Testament words can be broken down into the pictures, the pictographs and this can be done on any subject in the Bible FEEPS of SON Two primary words used for Son in the Old Testament, one of them is ben Son (Gen. 4:17) is ben ן בּ (S:1121) o his son is banow נ בּ וֹ (his is the last (ו letter Vau ב o 1. The first letter is Beth A picture of a house ן o 2. The second letter is Nun A picture of a seed, activity, action At the end of a word speaks of continuation God s picture of a son: the activity, action of the house builds a house o Ben means son Ex. Benjamin - son of my right hand; Benhaddad o Heb. 3:1-6 Christ an example of a son, o Ben is also the word that means to build o A son is to build his own house FEEPS of BROTHER The word for brother (Gen. 4:2) is ach אָ ח (S:251) א o 1.
