2 CURRICULUM UPDATES ISLAMIC STUDIES Mr. Ibrahim Long // Having learned about the lesser-known prophets and stories of the Qur an, students will now learn about the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) with a specific focus on his physical attributes and character traits. When possible, students will also have a guest lecturer, Imam Mahmoud, who has an ijaza (traditional license) in Shama il al-tirmidhi; a classical text the collects together. All objectives will be tested on Monday FRAME FOR THE WEEK Last week, students had time in class to work on their rough drafts for their Acadia Found Journal Project. Although I have been away some of the week, students were given time to begin to formulate their thoughts. As I have been away, I will extend the due date for the students. This week, students will complete their chapter 3 test and submit their Acadia Projects (Block 4). We will also look at some current event cartoons to practice those skills before winter break. Projects are an important part of the Social Studies Curriculum in Junior High. It is important that students put in their best effort and think critically to achieve the maximum application of their knowledge. Quest Killers and FairyTale are right on their tail. This is pure off the chart madness!!! Which guild will be able to get the most XP and gold before winter break? Stay tuned. COMING UP At this point, most students have submitted 4 of the required 5 quests. Next week, students will investigate the advantages of solar power, hydroelectric power, fossil fuel power, and wind power. They will then decide which of those sources of power was most likely to have been the original power source of Verum Terra s Clean energy production facility. Their plan will be to create a plan to destroy this power plant and replace it with something far more harmful to the environment (their choice). They shall explain how it works and communicate to the grade 8 students that they will not stop there. The ultimate plan is to steal the light away from the grade 8 students when they return from winter holidays. Yes, the class windows will be boarded up. It will be pitch black for grade 8 on Jan 8. Irony? Perhaps. Projects that are not completed this week may be submitted during winter break...but who would want to work during break? Seriously right? Get it done now kiddos! Boss Battle this week (Unit Exam). Please find review materials on my website on Saturday afternoon. Check the exam schedule for details regarding dates.
