This festival is now a well consolidated event, given also the success of this edition hosted in the magnificent farm of HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and splendidly organized by a team made up by HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - Chairman of the Committee, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saud, Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd Al Saud, Eng. Abdullah bin Sweilem, Gen. Al-Ayed Jeaid, Eng. Sami Al Nohait and Mr. Mutlaq bin Mushrif. The festival essentially revolves around four events. The first is the endurance race, the second is the auction, consisting of Al Khalediah Farm horses, third the gallop races held at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz race course, which is also held at night, thanks to the impressive lighting system. The fourth event, the one the entire audience eagerly follows and lasting three days, is the grand international ECAHO Class A show. This magnificent festival takes place entirely inside HRH Prince Khaled s farm, which has an extension of 400 hectares, within which over a thousand experienced and highly organized people live and work. This great facility, which is HRH Prince Khaled s farm, offers accommodation with swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, and even an equine hospital fully available to inhabitants of the horse center. When you experience this festival directly, many details prove to you that it is this great passion, this great love for the purebred Arabian horse that drives HRH Prince Khaled to TUTTO ARABI AL KHALEDIAH 1

I say give because it was with great generosity that HRH Prince Khaled gave hospitality to many people from all over the world, with no expense spared, adequate transportation and high quality catering by the Four Season. I also write expect because in order to guarantee such a successful event, everyone, including us guests, gave their utmost to pay back and be rewarded by this magnificent event. It is also worth mentioning that the organizing committee, well managed by Mrs. Melanie Mannix, that provided vehicles to all the officials and shuttle buses for spectators. To top it all, the panoramic view you get from the road leading from the capital to the Al Khalediah Farm created an atmosphere worthy of the place. The charming glimpses of the desert, which flanks the 4-lane highways, shows how much this country has done to prevail over nature and a land so dry and difficult to control. 3 2010Al Khalediah 24th January DAY 1 ENDURANCE The first day of the festival saw the staging of the FEI CEI** 120 km Al Khalediah Festival Cup -Endurance Challenge, organized jointly by the Al Khalediah Arabian Horse Festival and Saudi Arabia Equestrian Federation. The entire layout of the race was in the desert, running around the perimeter of HRH Prince Khaled s estate. The track was hard, well designed and with numerous refreshment points. The 5 loops set for the race had the following length: the first 2 covered a distance of 35 Km, the intermediate one was 20 Km long, and the last two were of 15 Km each. 6 am: 42 horses were at the start line; watching the sun rise took our breath away and made us forget that we had got up at the crack of dawn. During the day, the checks were carried out by the vet commission. Its members were Dr. Mohammed Al Hammad (KSA) President, Dr. Yasein Muatamary, Dr. Mohammed Shafy, Dr. Zahid Rafiq, Dr. Kuldip Kuhad, Dr. Khalid Aqel, Dr. Tawfiq Al Mehsen, Dr. Hesen Abu Al Saoud, Dr. Omar Al Ibrahim and Dr. Mahros. The supervision of the jury was entrusted to Mr. Fahd Majed Rmaihi, President, Mr. Khaled Al Adyany, Mr. Ronny Abdullah Bhian 1st place TUTTO ARABI AL KHALEDIAH 3

4 3rd International Arabian Horse Show 24th January DAY 1 ENDURANCE Collected for Abdulrahman Saad Alsulaiteen - 2nd place Vosch from Belgium and the only European in this team, Mr. Bassam Al Anizi, Mr. Hamdan Al Hamdan, Mr. Ibrahim Asiri and Mr. Mohammed Al Lhaidan. At the end of the first four loops, the group of competitors had grown considerably thinner. Despite the mild temperatures of this period and the good assistance to horses provided by the teams, there were only 6 participants left. To the joy and honor of all of us, HRH Prince Khaled Mohammed Al Omair 3rd place himself took part in the last loop, traveling aboard his Ranger Rover. The tension was great, the race was being followed by the jeeps of several television stations, our photographer Irina Filsinger was dangerously leaning out the jeep window to capture the images of these exciting moments. Along the whole track, we followed the favorite horse, No. 10 Saphire De Sinuhe, ridden to victory by Mr. Abdulh Albahean. 6 3rd International Arabian Horse Show 25th January DAY 2 AUCTION Second day, second round with the world of auctions. At 3pm the auctioneer, Mr Faisal Al Rahmani, and speaker Mr. Guy de Fontaines (for English) took their place on the auctioneer stand. Sixty horses were being auctioned off, obviously all beautiful and in great shape for this occasion. There were many famous and renowned names, among which I would like to mention Salah el Din, Kalahari and other world-famous horses. The quality was very high, to the point that the bids for some horses reached 380,000 Saudi Riyal, as in the case of the lovely SHOWQ AL KHALEDIAH. 8 3rd International Arabian Horse Show 26th January DAY 3 R A C I N G The program of the third sports event showcased the gallop races. At 4 o clock, the brass band broke out with its music resounding in the racecourse, making it clear to us that HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud had taken his seat in the royal stand and that the first race could start. Five races in total, all of them with 16 or more competing horses. Naturally, some races included horses from the Al Khalediah Stables, managed by Mr. Mutlaq bin Mushrif. As evidence of the high quality of Prince Khaled s breeding program, one of his horses won the second race, and not only that: in the fifth race, with 17 participants, the top five places went to horses from the Al Khalediah Stables. 8 TUTTO ARABI AL KHALEDIAH

10 3rd International Arabian Horse Show S H O W First day of the highly anticipated International Class A conformation show. Much has been said about this event in Europe, but actually being there beats every expectation. Experiencing something live is always better than seeing it on pictures, no matter how beautiful they are. The judges involved in the scoring of 309 horses were: Mrs. Angela Angold from the UK, Mr. Doug Dahmen from USA, Dr. Francesco Santoro from Italy, Mrs. Renata Schibler from Switzerland, Mr. Ali Shaarawi from Egypt and Ms. Anna Stojanowska from Poland. The disciplinary committee consisted of Mrs. Barbara Pfistner, Dr. Abdel Wahab Ben Amira Ali, Dr. Niels Ismer, Mr. Mohammed Yahya Al Ali and Mr. Turki Saad Al Mugbel. The task of commenting and reading out the scores was carried out by the two historical speakers, Mr. Guy de Fontaines and Mr. Mohammed Dosery for Arabic. Mr. Philip Jenkins was the friendly but energetic Ring Master, wearing the traditional bowler hat. Dr. Gregory Verhoeven was the veterinary consultant for the event. As already mentioned, the show took place over 3 days, and the first day features 7 categories of fillies: 2 categories of yearling fillies, 3 of 2-year-olds and 2 of 3-year-olds. In the first category, the winner was MEQBILAT ATHBAH (QR Marc x Martinique J) owned by Athbah Stud, in second place TAGHREED AL FAHDEAH (Marquis Cahr x Marakita) owned by HRH Prince Fahad Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The third and final day was full of events. First of all, the 4 classes of stallions. The class of stallions aged 4-6 was divided into A and B, due to the large number of horses in the competition.
