Arts Section ***** Dated Minutes of the Meeting of the Expert Committee held on 16 th November, 2011 under the Scheme of Grants, including Studio Theatres. A meeting of the Expert Committee for the Scheme of Grants, including Studio Theatres was held under the chairmanship of Shri Nihal Chand Goel, Joint Secretary on 16 th November, 2011 to consider project proposals received under the scheme. A list of expert members present in the meeting is annexed. 2. Shri Nihal Chand Goel, Joint Secretary welcomed the members of the newly constituted Committee for implementation of the modified scheme. He then informed the members present about the salient features of modified scheme. He stated that a new component of Studio Theatre has been incorporated in the erstwhile Grant Scheme. Under the modified scheme, financial assistance will be given for creating performance spaces, which include (i) conventional spaces and (ii) flexible spaces (studio theatres). Since it was the first meeting under modified scheme, Shri Goel explained, in detail, the provisions of the scheme one by one. He also read the Press Note issued on the scheme. Regarding a query on the need for approval of a structure by local authority, it was explained that this is necessary to prevent promotion of anything which may be illegal. On a query regarding grant for equipments alone, it was explained that such proposals should be examined in relation to the performance space these equipments are supposed to enliven. He then invited the members to consider the agenda. 3. The Expert Committee considered 30 applications which were complete and supported with all documents as required under the scheme. The Committee examined each proposal individually before taking a decision and recommended the following 12 proposals for financial assistance under the scheme:- Sl.
