The immensity of such blessing is almost too much for us to grasp. With all the breath and life within us, we come with praises before you, O God. The experience of your goodness and mercy gives us fresh confidence to face the present and the future, knowing that they, and we, are in your hands. People: Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him. Leader: This is the Lord's table. Our Savior invites those who trust him to share the feast which he has prepared

10 When Congress passed the recent healthcare reform bill, the reaction from some both for and opposed to the bill was shocking and anything but civil. Insults were hurled. Integrity, faith, and patriotism were questioned. In many heated political debates it seemed like people had forgotten what it meant to be civil. Within this context, the Rev. Jerrod Lowery, pastor of St. Paul Presbyterian Church, a small African American congregation in Louisburg, North Carolina, preached on Palm/Passion Sunday about the suffering of Jesus and about the voices in the passion story. Rev. Lowery challenged the congregation to do what the followers in the story did not do speak out and be heard. The congregation accepted the challenge and decided as believers in Christ that they could not remain silent on the conversations taking place. Members of St. Paul s began a letter-writing campaign calling for civility and condemning those who threaten the livelihood or lives of legislators and individuals. Their vision became the catalyst for the new Respectful Dialogue Initiative of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). This new initiative trains and equips Presbyterians to engage in respectful dialogue, building on the ideals of Seeking to be Faithful Together: Guidelines for Presbyterians During Times of Disagreement. Our session Adopted this policy and seeks to work together in love and peace. Each congregation keeps 25 percent of Peacemaking Offering receipts for peacemaking efforts in your community. Another 25 percent is kept by mid councils for their peacemaking efforts. The remaining 50 percent enables the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program to help Presbyterians be a peaceful and faithful presence in the realm of civil discourse.

If you have questions, please call Marci Spiegle at Not Much to Do Film Screening and Discussion In 1966, six African American boys living in West Philadelphia made a film about their lives. As the newly formed Tabernacle Film Club, and with funding from the Presbyterian Board of Christian Education, the boys conceived, shot, edited, and narrated the film, which they titled Not Much to Do. The first public screening of the film in nearly 50 years, an event exploring city history and youth and urban ministry, is presented by the Presbyterian Historical Society. Featuring Academy-Award nominated filmmaker Ben Achtenberg, former Tabernacle Church Community Minister Rev. Bob Stoddard, and Temple University Professor Emeritus Dr. Richard Chalfen..
