3 Call to Worship Leader: This is the Lord's Day, the day of wonder and grace. People: This is the day to worship the One who calls us here. Leader: This is the Lord's Day, the day we are given joy and peace. People: This is the day promised to us, the day of healing and renewal. Leader: This is the Lord's Day, and it has come just in time! People: This is the day we gather with hope, with faith, with love! *Hymn - Give Thanks, O Christian People GTG #644 tune - Es Flog Ein Kleins Waldvogelein *Prayer of Confession (unison) Patient Lord, you know how easy it is for us to whine and complain bitterly about all those things in our lives that are difficult. We focus on them as though they were the only things that ever happened to us, forgetting the many blessings that you have given to us and the opportunities you give us to serve you. We feel alienated you call us beloved. We feel lost--you seek us. We feel broken and battered--your love is a healing balm. Forgive us when we forget those things. Help us to always look to you for our healing and to return thanks to you by praise and serving others in your name. For we offer this prayer of confession of our failures and gratitude for your blessings. * Words of Assurance Leader: This is the good news: God intends for us to find life, to embrace hope, to receive forgiveness through Jesus Christ, our Servant. People: The end of our journey is not rejection and emptiness, but the fullness of grace and hope in our God. Thanks be to God, we are forgiven. Amen.

5 RESPONSE TO THE WORD *Affirmation of Faith - The Confession of 1967 This life, death, resurrection, and promised coming of Jesus Christ has set the pattern for the church s mission. His human life involves the church in the common life of all. His service to men and women commits the church to work for every form of human well-being. His suffering makes the church sensitive to all the suffering of humanity so that it sees the face of Christ in the faces of people in very kind of need. His crucifixion discloses to the church God s judgement on inhumanity to each other and the awful consequences of our own complicity in in justice. In the power of the risen Christ and the hope of his coming the church sees the promise of God s renewal of human life in society and of God s victory over all wrong. The church follows this pattern in the form of its life and in the method of its action. So to live and serve is to confess Christ as Lord. Offering Our inheritance from God evokes our thankfulness, and our gratitude inspires us to share the gifts we have received. Let us bring our tithes and offerings to extend the possibilities for reconciliation and peace. 8 Sunday, November 18, 2018 We would like to welcome our visitors. We are glad to have you here and hope you will feel as if you are among family. Children are welcome to remain in the service. There are activity bags and children s bulletins available in the Narthex. Large print bulletins and hymnals are available for your convenience. If you have difficulty hearing, personal amplifiers are available in the narthex. PLEASE BRING THE HEARING AIDS BACK TO THE DEACON OF THE DAY. We also provide a nursery for children infants through age three (3). Our nursery worker is Emilie Jackson. Our Children s Church program for children ages Pre-K through 5 th grade begins following the Children s Sermon. They will return during communion. Noisy Collection Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord!! The children take this extra collection asking people to put their change into the collection cans, the last Sunday of the month. Each month the donation is given to a different cause.

9 We will be going learning about our faith and how important it is and how we should be thankful for it. We will do an activity about gratitude to go along with the reading lesson. Urmila Maldvacar will be teaching Sunday School this week. Please follow her out after service. Pageant Practice will start on December 2, 2018 Also, if you have a child in Sunday School, please join our Facebook page: Collingswood Presbyterian Church Sunday School. ***Please pick up your Triennium Applications and FILL THEM OUT. Session must approve all candidates Deadline is December 1 for applications to be to Kathy Repici Also, SAVE THE DATE for January 13, :30pm. We will be watching Won t You Be My Neighbor the Fred Rogers documentary. (Yummy snacks included). This event is open to EVERYONE. If you have not done so already, please join our Youth Group Facebook Page: Collingswood Presbyterian Youth Group. It is a good way to keep in touch and up to date on youth group info and activities. YOUTH THIS MEANS YOU TOO!

10 Our church will be contributing 6 roasted turkeys for St. Mark's Thanksgiving dinner again this year. If you have a turkey that you can donate (roasted, fresh, or frozen), please contact Martha 856/ We're also looking for volunteers to roast turkeys (gravy optional). All roasted turkeys need to be carved (containers will be provided) and delivered to the church by Wednesday evening. With peace & love, Mission Committee Session Meeting Highlights - The hanging of the greens will be Dec. 1 at 9:00 am. - The Christmas pageant and luncheon will be Dec Rev. Bob Higgs will be our preacher throughout Advent. - The skylight in Calvin Hall has been leaking. An earlier attempt to repair it was not successful, and it must be either replaced with a new skylight or removed and covered. Because it is many times cheaper to remove it, Session approved that option. After removal of the skylight, the opening will be covered with roof decking and shingles to match the rest of the roof. - The hallway outside the fellowship lounge will be covered with new tile carpeting.
