He has always been my constant guide through every trial and tribulation plus all of the good times. He is always there, leading me step by step. I encourage you to let Him guide you step by step on your life's journey until you meet Him face to face. Our meeting is fast approaching. It will be April 21 at the Central Free Will Baptist Church. 2 MI WAC Newsletter Now on State Association website: Look for the WAC tab and find updates and our newsletter. Home Missionaries Enjoy Provisions! Page 2 We appreciate WNAC for all they do for FWB women and missions. Thank you! Angie Riggs, Kellie Penn, Suhey and Jose Correa and Holly Weaver select items from the Provision Closet. WNAC Antioch, TN Over a dozen home missionary families visited the Provision Closet last week while attending the Home Missions Summit in Nashville, Tennessee. Thanks to the generosity of Women Active for Christ, each of them left with usable items for their homes and ministries. For over 30 years, the Provision Closet has provided bedding, linens, small appliances and other home needs (free of charge) for Free Will Baptist missionaries, international Bible institutes and other Free Will Baptist missions related efforts. Praise the Lord for His goodness and the willingness of His people to give. For a list of current needs, contact the WNAC office. WNAC Reporting States:
3 Free Will Baptist International Missions Mailing Address Antioch, TN Phone (615) Please pray for our Missionaries Tim and Kristi Johnson Verlin and Debbie Anderson Greetings from Spain Tim and Kristi Johnson Today I was helping Mona (my aunt, whom many of you met at various retreats) as she cleaned out a storage shed behind her house. One of her tasks was going through some old papers and mail and deciding what to throw away and what to keep. It was a monumental task, as we found envelopes with dentist bill statements postmarked in 1989, insurance information about cars they no longer owned, and photos of people who had aged a lot since the pictures were snapped years ago. Oh, yes, we laughed a lot! But then I saw something that caught my attention. September of Tim and Kristi leave the States for their first term as missionaries in Spain Right there amid bank statements and family photos, I saw a church bulletin. It looked like a typical FWB church bulletin and I saw that the church's name was printed on the front...westside FWB Church, my home church. The bulletin was dated August of And in a note inside I saw where they were planning a special potluck fellowship dinner for the following Sunday. A dinner that was to honor "Tim and Kristi Johnson". I knew immediately that it was the month before we left for Spain for our first term ever. And I was flooded with emotions thinking of how they expressed their love for us and realizing that it's been over 13 years now since we said good-bye and left for Spain. Of course, this isn't the only church who has been so important to us. Many of you, as well, have been a part of sending us off to Spain. You've given books for our Outreach Center. You've sponsored candle parties to make sure our house was warmed. You've hosted missions conferences with Spanish flavor. You've provided countless items for our kitchen from the Provision Closet. These thirteen years have been a wonderful treasure of memories which cannot possibly be packed up in boxes in a storage building. They are something we like to "unpack" often and remember God's goodness to us by blessing us with supporters like you. Kristi Johnson Page 3 From Kim Slater Rouge FWB The Lord has impressed me over the past couple of years to study His word more. To that end I was introduced to a wonderful spirit filled teacher, Beth Moore. Our ladies at Rouge have had the privilege to complete 4 of her studies. We have shared DVD'S with a couple of other churches and would like to open up the opportunity for others to learn as well. We have available for loan the DVD Series for Beth Moore"s Believing God, Esther, Daniel and in a few months James. You can order member workbooks on line for $14.95 each at Lifeway.com. I will be happy to bring a set to the state meeting if you contact me for availability. Kim Slater at pwkslater@yahoo.com. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". 2 Timothy 2:15. I can guarantee you will be Blessed. Your Co-Laborer In Christ, Kim Slater Steve and Becky Riggs sriggs@fwbgo.com Happy Easter to you and your families! Thank God for the empty tomb. And remember: He still rolls the stone away!
4 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19 & 20 Local WAC Auxiliaries: Are you working on Your provision closet items for 010/2011? Jeff and Charissa Isaacs pastorjeffisaacs@yahoo.com Greg and Lea Floars g.floars@yahoo.com A Woman of Many Hats! Annual Retreat Theme Fun, Fun, Fun! In the past, a few ladies have suggested a theme that would allow us all to don our pretty hats for the annual retreat! Soooo, this is the year! The theme for the 2012 retreat is A Woman of Many Hats. The scripture text: Proverbs 31:10. Of course, the description of a virtuous woman, one who is always busy, starts with verse 10 and continues through verse 31. I m sure we can all relate to the wearing of many hats. If you really think about it, there are actually too many to mention. But, our Seminar topics are: A Charitable Woman, A Christian Woman and A Creative Woman, all of which are described in Proverbs 31. The Board is still in process of contacting speakers and after we have confirmed them all, they will be published in the next newsletter. There will be a prayer room on Thursday night for those who come early. On Friday night, there will be 10 prayer rooms to choose from. They are as follows: Single Women, Women with Lost Husbands, Minister s Wives (not just Pastors), Women with lost children or grandchildren, Mothers of Teens, Mothers of Pre- Schoolers, Working Women, Caregivers, Woman on His Mission and a room for the Teens. You can look forward to more details in the months to come. But, for now, we hope you will be picking out your hat or hats to wear to the retreat. Let s at least make the banquet on Friday night a hat night. Wouldn t it be fun to dress up again like we use to? Of course, hats are not a requirement, but in the spirit of the theme, please join in! How Do We Build Our Local WAC? Sherry McBroom I suppose no matter how hard we try, there will always be women who are just not interested in WAC and what we try to accomplish. But, there are local WAC auxiliaries who are looking for help motivating the ladies in their church. If you have any tips on what has worked for you, I wish you would share them with me so I can publish them in the next newsletter. But, here s a few ideas. **Develop a survey for all the ladies in your church. Make it simple because if it s not, they will not fill it out. Find out which day of the week is best for them to attend a meeting. Ask the right questions, and you will find out what is holding them back. **Use the posters and tools on the WNAC website to announce your meetings and promote WAC. **If you have working women, try doing more than sweets for refreshments and serve at least 15 minutes prior to your meeting start time. Foods like: casseroles, sloppy joes, taco salad, etc. **Provide nursery volunteers for those with small children who feel they cannot attend for that reason. **Ask your Pastor to help promote WAC. The most effective local auxiliaries are those who have supportive Pastors. **Involve women in your activities even if they are not members. Let them help! Page 4 God Is so Good (rec d from Joann Baker in and ) A king who did not believe in the goodness of God, had a slave who, in all circumstances would say: My king, do not be discouraged, because everything God does is perfect, no mistakes! One day they went hunting and along the way a wild animal attacked the king. His slave managed to kill the animal, but could not prevent his majesty from losing a finger. Furious and without showing his gratitude for being saved, the nobleman said "Is God good? If He was good, I would not have been attacked and lost my finger." The slave replied only "My king, despite all these things, I can only tell you that God is good, and he knows the "why" of all these things. What God does is perfect. He is never wrong!" Outraged by the response, the king ordered the arrest of his slave. Later, he left for another hunt and was captured by savages who made human sacrifices. While on the altar, ready to sacrifice the noble, the savage found that the victim had a missing finger and so he was released. According to them: he was not so complete to be offered to the gods. Upon his return to the palace, the king authorized the release of his slave to whom he said very affectionately: My dear, God was really good to me! I was almost killed by the wild men, but for lack of a single finger, I was let go! But I have a question: If God is so good, why did he allow me to put you in jail? My King, if I had gone with you in this hunt, I would have been sacrificed for you, because I have no missing finger. ~ ~ ~ Therefore, remember: everything God does is perfect. HE is never wrong. Often we complain about life and the negative things that happen to us, forgetting that nothing is random and that everything has a purpose. Every morning, offer your day to God. Ask God to inspire your thoughts, guide your actions, to ease your feelings. And do not be afraid. God is never wrong!
5 Free Will Baptists National Home Missions Mailing Address Antioch, TN Phone Toll Free: (877) (615) Praise God from whom all blessings flow! From the Andersons : Cote Ivoire Dear Michigan Sisters in Christ, In January the Assembly of God pastor s home here in Bondoukou was emptied by thieves. The next weekend the Southern Baptist pastor and his wife (friends of ours) were invaded. As they tried to hide in the bathroom, Monique was hit in the neck by nine bullets and collapsed on the floor. The Lord preserved her life, but it was a 3-hour ordeal and very traumatic. Almost every week we hear of 4 x 4 vehicles being robbed between 6 and 9 p.m., as people head home from work. Free arms were handed out when the new government was installed by force, and many unemployed young men locally still have the guns and use them maliciously. We are taking as many precautions as possible, and trusting the Lord for grace should our turn come. Neighborhood security watches have started to help diminish the crime. Debbie walks our Rottweiler dog in the neighborhood regularly so that everyone knows who will greet them should they break in! Please pray, and particularly for our FWB pastors and families, as they observe what has happened to others. March will be a very busy month, and we dearly need your prayers for other reasons, as well: Verlin s 12 to 15-hour preaching and teaching weekends will continue at two distant churches. This past weekend he was warmly received at the second FWB church in Bondoukou. The people were hungry for spiritual meat, as well as much teaching about the faith and practice of Free Will Baptists. Debbie will continue teaching the Goumere ladies and will work on a large translation project, as well supervising Corbin in school. March and April are normally the hottest, most exhausting months of the year. Energy levels plummet, and grumpiness can set in. Our daughter Cara graduates from nursing school in Nashville on May 5! Please pray with us that these last few months will go smoothly, as she takes her nursing exam, applies for a full-time position, and arranges for housing. PRAISE: our extremely slow Internet speed which hindered us greatly last semester has made a turn for the better! We can download files in 15 minutes instead of an hour. Finally, our hats off to the more than 50 % of FWB Michigan churches who have already committed to participate in the World Mission Offering for International Missions in April! We all need that encouragement, as we seek to make Jesus known around the world. Hopefully this will speed the Johnsons and Riggs back to their fields of service soon. Thank you so much, and please encourage others to participate. Safe in His care, Verlin, Debbie, and Corbin Anderson Page 5 Chicken Noodle Casserole Ingredients: 3 large boneless chicken breasts or 5 or 6 small ones. 1 bag noodles 1 stick butter/margarine 2 cans cream of chicken soup 1 onion (chopped) 1 large container of cottage cheese 1 large or 2 small cans mushrooms 1 bag shredded cheddar cheese 1 bag mozzarella cheese 1 tsp.
