1 From the Desk of Bill Winston January 2018 Join the Twitter Conversation FAITH TO CHANGE CITIES Dear Partner, Mark 11:23-24 says, 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Weymouth s translation of the New Testament says, Whatever you pray and ask God for, If you believe that you have received it, it shall be yours (verse 24). This is what Jesus taught and how we, as believers, are supposed to function. We are designed to function exactly like God, and how God functions is by FAITH SEEING things and SAYING things that are not yet physically visible. In fact, the Bible tells us that everything that does not come from faith is sin (Romans 14:23). Wow! I don t know about you, but when I read that it got my attention. No wonder it says in several places in Scripture, The just shall live by faith. His plan is for us to use faith 24/7, in everything we do, everything we think, everything we say, and in every place we go. It s Not Complicated Mark 11:24 simply says, we must, by faith, have it before we see THE PHYSI- CAL RESULTS. It s not complicated, even a child can do it. For example, when my son David was small and wanted to buy something at the toy store, he would come to me with the request. I might resist at first, but he would stay right with it, pressing in, until I said, Yes. Once he got his answer, he went away and did something else. Why? He got the promise from dad and knew dad would keep his promise. That s the way faith works with our heavenly Father. He gives us His precious promises; our part, after making our specific request, is to believe we ve received it when we made our petition. That is all He requires of us. ONLY BELIEVE. The rest is God s part. He s the one who brings it to pass. It s just that simple. And oh, by the way, when my son got a little older (12 years old), he learned how to use his own faith and petition the heavenly Father to meet his own needs and desires. 2 Whosoevers Can Have Whatsoever Jesus taught this principle that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, which could be an impossible situation, and shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. This means that a little boy s faith can have the same impact as an adult s. Why? Because we don t do it. The Father performs it. Whether it s Abraham having a child at 100 years old, or Mary, who was a virgin, having a baby...god is the one who brought it to pass. Their job was to believe. Jesus said to the two blind men that received their healing, According to your faith be it unto you (Matthew 9:29). In another place, He told the woman who was healed of an incurable disease, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole (Mark 5:34). Faith is sharing responsibility. Until your part is done, God is not committed. Now you can understand how one woman, Esther, could be used by God to save an entire nation (Israel). She put on her royal apparel and went and stood before the king BY FAITH! Or how by faith, one man, David, could defeat an entire army of Philistines; or one man, Joshua, could speak to the sun in the midst of a battle and it stood still for almost 24 hours...because it s by faith, which releases the unlimited power of God. Jesus spoke to a storm and it stopped...and then turned to His disciples saying, Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? (Mark 4:40 NKJV). Notice, he fully expected them to put down that storm. Why? Because they had the same faith. Faith is the requirement to receive anything from God. Also, with faith, you must believe you ve received the things you pray for at the time you pray without seeing them, without feeling them, and without wavering, and you shall have them (Mark 11:24). There is an old hymn that goes like this, Only believe, only believe, all things are possible, if you ll only believe. How simple, yet profound! Two common mistakes that are often made in operating Mark 11:23 and 24. The first is that some people say or pray the problem and not the solution. They pray their circumstances and not their desire. God cannot give you one thing and you are saying and praying another. He has regulated Himself by His own rules, and His rules say you shall have whatsoever you say. Jesus even teaches on answered prayer saying, If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? (Luke 11:11). The second most common mistake is that people don t receive it done when they pray. They receive it done when they see it manifest. Because of this, they begin praying the very next day the same thing again. It s the same as planting a seed and the next day digging it up. No! Once the prayer is spoken, in the spirit it is done. The forces of God and angels are at work. You must believe you have received it (done), and begin thanking God until you see it physically manifest. Your thanksgiving gives birth to praise and when you praise in faith, it shifts the battle and God takes over. (2 Chronicles 20:22-23) That s how you fight the good fight of faith! And you always win. Faith Sees the Invisible and Declares the Impossible When God gave Adam the mandate to dominate the earth, He said, And let them have dominion (rulership) over all the earth. He then empowered man- Page 2

3 kind, God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion (Genesis 1:28). He gave man what I call the Eden Mandate. Adam was to replenish the earth, which means to perpetually renew and resupply and to restock it with abundance. How? Primarily the same way God did when He said, let there be light or let the dry land appear. He did it all by words. Nothing came into existence until after God said it. He had faith in His own words and believed that what He spoke would come into physical existence. Adam then, given the Eden Mandate, took up where God left off. Chicago Prayer Walks Hear what God said through the mouth of the prophet Isaiah, so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (Isaiah 55:11). Earlier this year our ministry joined another local ministry to do prayer walks down the streets of one of Chicago s highest crime-ridden neighborhoods. During the walks, believers are speaking into the atmosphere, decreeing the will of God into manifestation recognizing that the root of the problem is spiritual. The same as when Jesus spoke to the storm while on the boat (Mark 4:39), and the same as God did in the beginning when He called light out of darkness. Based on the latest statistics, Chicago is experiencing a downward trend in both crimes and homicides, but most dramatically in the neighborhood of the prayer walks. For example, the total incidents of overall crime in this neighborhood are down 12.5% from last year, including a 26% reduction in those wounded from shootings. This is what s happening where we are speaking and decreeing the Word of God. Prayer walking was done in the city of Newark, N.J. some years ago when the city s crime and murder rates were the highest in the nation. After the prayer walks, Newark experienced supernatural transformation. Billionaires made huge investments in the city s under-performing schools major corporations relocated their US headquarters to Newark the Newark Airport received funding for a 15 billion dollar expansion and the city had the largest mob roundup in US history. By coincidence? Nope! It was by faith! When the Word of God is released by faith through the mouth of a believer, it has tremendous creative power and no situation or circumstance is able to withstand it s unstoppable, replenishing dictates...and everything must come into divine alignment with its demands. I decree today by faith...chicago SHALL BE SAVED! Remember, faith has no limits! It sees the invisible and does the impossible. God promised us, And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places (Isaiah 32:18). We believe it and speak it and we expect to see it manifested. A powerful man of God, John Wesley, once said,...he (God) can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him. As you sow your seed this month, believe you receive your desire when you Page 3

4 pray, thanking God for the answer. Remember, He, Himself, guaranteed the results. He said, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
