1 Going to church should be all that the name of Jesus represents: freedom, grace. Going to church is also going out to the world to share the Gospel with others. So here is the questions: when God opens a door for you to reach out and minister God s grace outside of your church at the same time as your regular service, are you free (emotionally and spiritually) to take action? CHRISTIAN BIKER A Christian Riders Fellowship Publication Vol. 2.8, March/April 2016 Amos: The riding prophet from the South Christian Riders Fellowship (CRF) practices this by going for a short ride to a place where bikers meet on a Sunday afternoon, once a month. The purpose is to meet other bikers and when the door is open and the opportunity presents itself, we can share the Grace of Jesus and invite them to rides and meeting. Christian Riders Fellowship (CRF) will be conducting Biker Church in April 2016 where we will be worshiping and hearing from the Word of God. Register your interest on our face-book page event. If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, you can do so, right now, right where you are, by placing faith alone in Christ alone. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. (Joh 3:36). This is your opportunity. Osborne (An allegory is a literary device or as rhetorical device that conveys hidden meanings through symbolic figures, actions, imagery, and/or events, which together create the moral, spiritual, or political meaning the author wishes to convey.) South T he tale of Amos, the bikers Pastor, who rode to a northern city, two years in advance of what would be seen as a natural disaster, but really an act of God s judgement on the people and the churches of the city. The thundering sound of Amos approaching ride reminds all that Loud pipes are bringing a rider with a message to save souls. It also serves to send a message, a message shouted from the LORD. It may well be worth the remembering that God created the universe with just a whisper. But now He comes with a shout! The message will be so loud that the knees of the strong will knock together, the warrior will, lets just say he will need a change of clothes. The church pastors will languish and try to plug their ears and the rich, the authorities, and the famous will fall to pieces at the roaring. Before arriving at the northern city, Amos rode to seven surrounding locations. In these locations Amos gathers information to relate to the city he is riding to. Christian Biker 2.8 Page 2 call people to church. Jesus never rang a bell, but commanded that believers go out to the world to share the gospel. Too often the way we do church has become nothing more than ritual and a place to go where we can make right all the wrongs done during the week. When we spend too much time looking into a church building or service, or even within ourselves we can be caught in nothing more than religious activity that doesn t help anyone. This is not a new phenomenon. In the eighth century BC this is how Amos, the Old Testament prophet found the place of worship in Israel. In chapter 5: Go d response is: though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. (Amo 5:21-23) Here, God has no interest in any of the religious activities in the place of worship. Why? Because for the rest of the week they were being unjust and taking advantage of the poor. It is equivalent to living like a saint on Sunday and like a demon the rest of the week. Today, we call our places of worship, church, and God has about as much interest in legalist religious activities as He did in the eighth century. Since church goers have insisted on repeatedly carrying out these activities, it is conceivable that God has not even been present in some churches for centuries. So here is the questions: when God opens a door for you to reach out and minister God s grace outside of your church at the same time as your regular service, are you free (emotionally and spiritually) to take action? Let me be very clear, church activities are important and when two or three are gathered in His name, there He is in the midst. Just don t expect His presence if you are gathering together in the name of obligation, legalism, guilt or anything else besides the name of Jesus. Christian Biker 2.8 Page 11

3 Bible Study The Day God forsake the gathering We have a ministry opportunity this coming Sunday. But what about church? or I can t miss church? Well let s consider this for a moment will church go on without you for one Sunday? Will the walls cave in without your pillar of strength presence? Will someone sit in your seat and thereafter claim it as theirs? Will you Surely, people can be miss out on a vital word from reached for Christ on God? Do you feel as though you are letting the team down, or Sunday morning too? being disloyal? Perhaps one, all, or any combinations of these things will happen. In reality, the only thing that will happen is a phone call from your pastor because you forgot to tell him you wouldn t be there. The purpose of the question is not to encourage absenteeism from church, far from it. It is to if any legalism, guilt trips or other nasties have crept into your soul in regards to attending church. Surely, people can be reached for Christ on Sunday morning too? I know it is common practice now to shut down the kids program over school holidays (I m not sure why this happens), but why do we shut down out witnessing every Sunday? There are people who would not go to church for any number of reasons ranging from just don t want to go to church or it s too nice a day not to go for a ride. It might even be the only day they have off other duties to do what they want. Since the church is not an option or even a desire for them, the church should respond by going out into all the world. In the old days and still today in some places, the church bells ring to Christian Biker 2.8 Page 10 tion, Amos learns that God will not turn a blind eye to what they have done. They have rode down and rode over another town with their iron sleds. Because of this, this town will be set on fire, the gates smashed, giving invaders free and unhampered access. They will not get help from neighbors or authorities because their way has been blocked, and the survivors will be taken away as slaves. To the second location, here God will also not turn a blind eye. They have sent entire communities to other countries as slaves, so God will burn and destroy all their defenses leaving them as easy prey to their enemies. Their allies will not be able to help, in fact they too will be killed according to the laws of association. Now, for the third location which God has observed all that they did and will not allow them to get away with it. They betrayed their own people and broke promises, leading to their destruction. This location too will lose the capability to defend themselves. The fourth location, like the second and third, will lose all their defenses and the capability to do so, because they have murdered their own brothers, refused to show compassion to them and have been continually ranting about in an angry rage. The fifth location too, will lose all capacity to defend themselves, but with a difference. This difference will be alarming, like a storm not yet seen. 4 growth by killing unborn babies along with their mothers. This was how they thought they would become more powerful, but instead will be shown as weak. There will be plenty of enemies for baby and women killers. The intelligence gathered by Amos on his road trip thus far is that God has seen and will not allow any to get away with a] the domination over others, b] the oppression of other particularly for personal gain, c] the lack of integrity and causing of harm to others, d] the rage, anger and ruthlessness shown to brothers, and e] the prevention of others growth in order for self-advancement, amongst other hideous crimes. Now Amos rides into the sixth location. These poor unfortunate souls will die in a war in which they cannot even fight against. They will see their rulers, whom they had placed their faith in, executed in front of them and then they too will perish thereafter. This is because they utterly destroyed even the memory of other leaders. The seventh location, once a part of the northern city, but was now split from them. Both this and the northern city claimed to be in favor with God above the other. But that is not how God sees it. They have rejected the law of God established by the forefathers. They have not followed His instructions. They told so many lies, they themselves no longer knew what the truth was. For this, their cities and their capital would be destroyed. Having arrived at the northern city, Amos begins to preach, telling of all that will happen to those other locations around them. Anticipation fills the air. Who is going to get it next? most ask. A few sense fear. With each location, Amos has been getting closer and closer to home and the discipline more and more severe. Are they the ones who will get it next? Amos breaks the tense silence and in a clear resounding voice says, For three transgressions of this northern city, and now for a fourth, God will not let you get away with any of it. The shock is like the vibration from a thousand Harleys riding by. This is what the LORD says. What will the LORD say to the northern city?
