Amen. I believe that I cannot by my own thinking believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to him. But the Holy Spirit has called me by the gospel, enlightened me with his gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way he calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. In this Christian church, he daily and fully forgives all sins to me and all believers. On the Last Day, he will raise me and all the dead and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true. Friday, May 4 166)I Corinthians 12:3-No one can say, Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit. Tuesday, May 8 167)Acts 4:12-Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. 168)I Peter 3:15-Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have. Wednesday, May 9 169) The Second Commandment-You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. We should fear and love God that we do not use his name to curse, swear, lie or deceive, or use witchcraft, but call upon God s name in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks. 23
24 Thursday, May )Acts 4:20-We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard. 171)James 1:22-Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Friday, May )Romans 1:16-I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Tuesday, May )Isaiah 41:10-Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Wednesday, May )Matthew 28:20-Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. 175)Acts 5:29-We must obey God rather than men! Thursday, May ) The Third Article of the Apostles Creed- I believe in the Holy Spirit; the Holy Christian church, the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. 24
25 Friday, May )I Peter 5:8-Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 178)The Third Petition of the Lord s Prayer-Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Tuesday, May ) Matthew 28:19, 20-Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Wednesday, May ) I Timothy 2:3,4-God our Savior wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth 181) The Second Petition of the Lord s Prayer-Your kingdom come. Thursday, May ) The Third Commandment- Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy. We should fear and love God that we do not despise preaching and his Word, but regard it as holy and gladly hear and learn it. Friday, May )Mark 16:15-Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 25
