For just over twenty years it has been the first page and has generally contained thoughts that inspire and challenge. This is the epilogue an epilogue is a short section at the end of a book or literary work detailing the fate of its characters Following a congregational assessment in March, the Provincial Elders Conference decided that it was time for our ministry at Sharon Church to come to a close, and that Naomi and I be called to District Service. This decision has placed all of us in a time of transition. Our ministry at Sharon will conclude on June 30 th. By August 15 th, Naomi and I will be relocated into a new living situation. For many this seems rather abrupt and sudden. Many questions are being raised and much work will have to be done during this time. As a congregation, you will need to come together and work together. As members of the congregation, you will need to work with your elected leaders and church staff to make this time of transition a positive time to move into the future. We will always cherish our time of ministry at Sharon. We will cherish the relationships we have formed and the moments of ministry we have been able to share. We will cherish the moments we have been ministered to as well. Over the next few weeks we will share hugs, and tears, and times of laughter. We will reflect back on the years and tell stories and know that God has blessed us and will continue to bless us. God s grace is sufficient for all our needs. We need to claim God s grace. In so doing, God will be able to help us move into the future. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. 3 Summer Sunday School will begin on Sunday, May 31st, from 9:30 am until 10:15 am. Both the Moravian Stars and Singing Sunbeams will be on break for the summer. Summer Sunday school is open to children and youth of all ages. For more information, please call Crystal Fox. Sunday School for adults begins in the Fellowship Hall with a casual opening which is held from 9:15 am until 9:30 am. We have two adult classes- The Covenant Class meets in the lounge on Sunday mornings, with Gloria Rentsch leading the class. The Searchers class meets in the Sunday School room located just under the staircase from the main church entrance, with Mike Reed leading the class. Everyone is welcome to join us on Sunday mornings! ADULT CHOIR: There will be no Adult Choir rehearsal during the month of June. Thank you all! GOOD SAMARITAN BOXES: The boxes have been designated for camper scholarships on Sundays, June 14th and 21st. Please help us defray part of the cost for our youth to attend camps this summer. ATTENTION: Please check the Fellowship Hall to see if one of the dishes left behind belongs to you or your family. Thanks! BIRTHDAY SUNDAY: Let s celebrate the birthdays of June! Please come and enjoy a piece of cake with your church family on Sunday, June 14th, right after our morning worship service. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMITTEE: The June Christian Education Committee meeting will be Tuesday, June 16th, at 6:30 pm. HISTORY CAMP: Get Your History On! Three days of history camp is being offered for three different age groups is being offered this June 17th, 18th and 19th, at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, the Uhrichsville Clay Museum and Schoenbrunn Village. History Explorers (grades 3-5), History Boot Camp (grades 6-8) and the Curators Club (grades 9-12) will meet from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm, for three days for only $45.00! Museum members will get the discounted rate of only $ The children will be served a snack at each location. For a fuller description of everything being offered, please see the bulletin board near the parking lot entrance. The programs being offered truly sound like a lot of fun, very hands-on. JOYFUL NOISE OFFERING: For the month of June, the Joyful Noise Offering will be collected on Sunday, June 21st (a week earlier than usual). The offering for June has been designated for the Moravian Board of World Mission for our provincial assessment. Save your loose change for this special offering. FATHER S DAY: Let s meet at the pavilion at the top of the hill at Tuscora Park - Hilltop #6. There will be a covered dish dinner to celebrate Father s Day on Sunday, June 21st. We will meet at 6:00 pm. CEC will provide hot dogs, buns and condiments. Please bring your own table service and drinks. The free RTY showcase concert, held on Sunday evenings in the park Amphitheater, will be The Classic Cruisers. WHAT IS A FATHER?: Being of the male species does not make a man a father, for a dad is a special blend of hero, disciplinarian, a friend, someone to look up to, someone to model someone with a touch of the mother in him, someone who is big enough to say, The fault was mine someone who lives the kind of life that makes you want to say, I, too, shall follow him! Dr. Alton Kaul ORDINATION: You are all welcome to attend the ordination of Eric Renner on Sunday, June 21st, at the Schoenbrunn Moravian Church. The service of ordination will be begin at 4:00. The Bishop Doug Kleintop is officiating. A dinner reception will follow. If you are interested in attending, please contact the Schoenbrunn church in advance so that plans can be made accordingly. 4 CAMP EPWORTH: Is God in MySpace? is the theme for this year s Camp Epworth, our middle school summer camp. Camp will be held June 21-27th, The cost for Camp Epworth is $ This includes lodging, food, a camp t-shirt and camp picture. The Christian Education Committee and Youth Fellowship will pay a total of $ The remaining balance of $ is the responsibility of the camper. Registration and health forms are due to Crystal Fox by June 5th to avoid late fees. What to bring: Interest and Activity Groups will be selected AT camp again this year. In addition to other interest and activity groups, tennis and perhaps band will be offered, so bring a racket or an instrument to participate. An exciting part of camp is the talent show showcasing our campers gifts and talents so campers are encouraged to bring music (sheet or CDs), instruments or other necessities if they wish to participate. Supplies needed for Epworth: four containers of drink mix (lemonade or fruit punch) and two 2-liter bottles of root beer. All supplies should be given to Crystal Fox by Sunday, June 14th. It s almost time to start the game! Come to the game - join the Jesus team! Sharon Moravian Church will hold Vacation Bible School June 22nd - June 26th, from 9:30 until 11:30 am. This summer, the church will be transformed into a stadium where we will all play on God s team. We will be singing songs, making fun crafts, eating concession stand snacks and learning more about the Bible. Please remember to pray for our VBS program and volunteers. Volunteers are still needed for the week of Bible school. We also need supplies such as: Tacky glue Black permanent markers Assorted colors of permanent markers Assorted colors of fabric markers Juice Boxes - assorted flavors 8 oz. foam cups Animal crackers Paper towels Napkins Please drop any donations off at the church by Sunday, June 14th. Any questions? Call Crystal Fox, Thanks! OPEN HOUSE HONORING REV. AND NAOMI FORAN: Please join us on June 28th, from 5:00-7:00 for an open house honoring Rev. Foran and Naomi. This will be held in the Fellowship Hall, details to follow. RICHARD RONALD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND STEAK DINNER: The annual steak dinner to benefit the Richard Ronald Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held July 11th, 4:00 8:00 pm, at the Tusky VFW. Tickets ($12) are available from Sandy Fait, Glen Swaldo, Martha Rolli, Becky Demattio, Jill Westbrook, Andy Ronald or Phyllis Ronald. THE BEAT GOES ON! MORAVIAN MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009: For more than 500 years, Moravians have celebrated their faith through music. Every three to five years this rich musical legacy is showcased at the Moravian Music Festival. This year s festival will be held at Belmont Abbey College, North Carolina, Sunday, July 19th - Saturday July 25th. There are brochures and registration forms available in the literature rack near the parking lot entrance. PAGE 4

5 MORAVIAN WOMEN S FALL RETREAT: Uhrichsville Moravian Church will be hosting the fall retreat on August 28th - 30th. Our speaker for the weekend will be Mrs. Marie Couts, Director of Christian Education for the Eastern District of the Moravian Church. Marie will lead us into our fall study on Ruth. This will be a time to replenish your spirit as Moravian women worship and learn together. Please mark your calendars. We would love to fill Uhrichsville s sanctuary! Registration forms will be available after June 15th. Deadline for registrations will be August 17th. This will be a retreat you won t want to miss! SHARON MORAVIAN COOKBOOK: The Christian Education committee is preparing a taste-tempting cookbook featuring favorite recipes from members of our church and community. Our cookbook will be beautifully illustrated and bound and is sure to be treasured for years. We would like you to submit as many of your favorite recipes as you wish. Your name will be printed with each of your recipes so that you can be represented in our memorable collection. Your help in contributing recipes will ensure that our cookbook will be a success. Forms to submit your recipes can be found at the back of the sanctuary and also in the literature rack, near the parking lot entrance. Also, Russell Ashkettle s father, Arthur Ashkettle, passed away on Saturday, May 16 th, and Sue Love s uncle, Rick Staley died on Monday, May 18 th. Please keep these families in your prayers. INKJET AND TONER CARTRIDGES: We continue to collect inkjet and toner cartridges for recycling at Staples. These cartridges goes towards a credit for the church s office supplies. Next time you change your printer s ink, please think of us! We get $3.00 each. Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family.
