2 News & Notes April 1, 2018 Welcome! We re glad you re here today. If you are new to Messiah, please stop by the Welcome Center in the Gathering Space for your gift. Good Stuff to Know: The Welcome Center is located right outside the Worship Center. Feel free to ask the volunteer any questions you may have or pick up some information on Messiah. Restrooms are on the south side of the Gathering Space in the coat rack area. If you would like to receive Holy Communion and are unable to approach the Altar area, please talk to an usher before the service. Difficulty Hearing? We have hearing impaired assistance available at the Welcome Center. For Those with Children: Busy Bags are filled with quiet activities for your children to use during the service. They can be found in the entryway of the Gathering Space. Children s Sermon: During the 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. services there is a Children s Sermon where all children are invited to come up. If your child doesn t want to come up alone, please feel free to come up and sit with them or sit in the front pew. Family Restroom: A family restroom is located by the coat racks across from the women s restroom. The Nursery is available for parents and their children three years of age and younger and is located in the hallway across from the rear of the Sanctuary. Sunday School: Sunday School is available downstairs for ages 3 through 5 th grade. If you would like direction, stop by the Welcome Center. Middle School and Senior High Youth meet across the street at Luther Hall on Sunday mornings starting at for Bible Study. Blue Cards: Whether you are a long-time member or a first-time visitor, please be sure to fill out one of the blue cards found in this folder. Please give the card to the ushers/acolytes during the offering. Gluten Free Wafers: So those with gluten allergies or Celiac Disease can fully partake in communion, we have individual wrapped gluten free wafers. If you would like a gluten free wafer, ask the person distributing the wafers when you approach. Disclaimer: The wafers are certified gluten free and are individually sealed, however, some gluten may be on the wrappers due to being in the proximity of gluten wafers. ( 1 )

Please submit mission appeal nominations to Rob Stadler by April 22. WEDNESDAY MEAL MENU: spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, dessert and beverage. Meals are served 4:45 6:00 pm. IMPORTANT! Wednesday Night 6:06 Worship will NOT continue after Easter due to service preaching/scheduling conflicts ( 2 )

4 MESSIAH BOOK CLUB SELECTION for April is "I AM MALALA" by Malala Yousaizai, the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize,which she received for speaking out for the right of girls to education not only in her native Pakistan, but in all countries. There is a bag in empty church office - if you would like to join us you may check out a book and join us on Thursday, April 19th at 2:00 in the Cross Roads. FEED MY STARVING CHILDREN Wednesday, April 4, 6:00-7:30 PM Group # AUDIO VISUAL: The audio visual team is having a meeting and training session Saturday April 7 th. The meeting will be from 9 11am in the Fireside room to gather ideas for the future of A-V at Messiah and go over some basic rules. We then we will break into training groups. Breakfast rolls and juice will be served. Anyone interested may join, confirmation age or older. Questions contact garyomalley@msn.com SHARE YOUR PASSION FOR A MINISTRY: Each year, Messiah selects 6 ministries to highlight. Each ministry will be presented to the congregation on a designated Sunday and a special offering will be collected for the ministry. To nominate a ministry that you are passionate about, please send an to Rob Stadler: stadlerrw@gmail.com. Nominations will be collected until April 22, and voting is planned for April 29 at the Spring Voters Meeting ( 3 )

5 SENIOR PASTOR CALL UPDATE (4/1/18) The call committee received notification on Wednesday, March 29, that Pastor Caleb Schauer is no longer available to accept a Divine Call due to unforeseen staffing changes at his church; therefore, the special voters meeting that was scheduled for April 8th will not be needed and is formally canceled. The call committee will meet soon to consider new names to bring to the Messiah voters and will continue to provide regular updates as new information becomes available. MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Our Spring Voters Meeting will be Sunday, April 29 at 12:45 PM! The Call Committee will give an update on our progress. PRAYER REQUESTS: For the Call Committee and all involved in the process of discerning God s will for a new Senior Pastor. Messiah staff and assisting pastors for clarity for how to move Messiah forward. Patience as we wait. SAVE THE DATE! On Wednesday, April 11 starting at 6 PM. We welcome back the Homeward Bound Theater TEENSREACH group! We will enjoy skits, music, snacks and crafts. We had TONS of fun last year ALL PEOPLE, ALL AGES are invited to attend! MESSIAH ANNUAL TEA - The tea will be April 28th at 1:00 pm. Sign up is on the bulletin board by the elevator. This year s theme is Celebrations to Remember. We would like hosts to choose a theme from the list presented such as birthday, anniversary, special holidays, etc. and decorate their table based on the theme they select. Our guest speakers this year will be authors Soile Anderson, caterer extraordinaire, and Eleanor Ostman, food writer and cookbook publisher. ( 4 )
