Vision for Mission M & M donations Many thanks to those who remembered to bring change to make change on the First Sunday of the month ( M & M Sunday) but you re welcome to bring the change any weekend at all!. Offerings can be placed in the wooden church any Sunday morning. If you would like credit for your donation, complete the form next to the wooden church and submit it in the slot with your donation. Don t forget to take your empty container back home to fill up for next month! Nursery is available for children (to age 3) during Sunday worship at 9:15am & 11:00am and can be found down the hall, from the sanctuary. There are pagers to locate parents if needed. There is also a cry room with a speaker at he back of the sanctuary for a brief time-out for restless worshipers. Please be considerate of other worshipers by bringing children to worship, if they are able, and to the nursery, if necessary. Sunday School is held each Sunday at 9:30am for adult members and visitors. One adult class is held in the Annex and the other in Classrooms 3 & 4 just off the Shepherd Center towards the back parking lot. The class in the Annex follows the Augsburg Adult Bible Studies Series. Classrooms 3 & 4 are studying the Books of 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd John. If you need help finding the class, please ask an usher and they will be happy to point you in the right direction. The children join us in worship in the Sanctuary from 9:15am until about 9:45am and are then dismissed to their classes in the Shepherd Center (the building next door). Sunday School ends at 10:45am. You may then pick up your child at their class. Come join us for spiritual growth! Find it hard to join the groups on Sunday morning? Don t forget the home Bible studies, daily Bible lessons and daily devotion ed by Pastor Johnson as well (available in written form at the round table at the entrance to church)! Restrooms are located on the left hand side down the hallway outside the worship space and at the back of the worship space to the right of the kitchen. Fellowship is held after worship. Please take a moment to enjoy some great food and fellowship at the back of the worship space and take time meet and greet your friends as well as meet some new ones! Nursery is available for children (to age 3) and can be found in the 2nd classroom on the right as you leave the worship space. Please be considerate of other worshipers by bringing children to worship if they are able and to the nursery if necessary. Sunday School Children 4 yrs old to 8th grade are dismissed to Sunday School just after Holy Communion at the 10:00am service. 4 + + + HAPPENINGS IN THE WOODS THIS WEEK AND NEWS & NOTES NEW ADULT BIBLE STUDY CLASS will begins today, Sunday, June 7 th at the Lakeshore Location from 9am 9:40am in the Faith Center. We will be doing a series on The Parables of Jesus and each class will be its own session so you can come as often as it works for you! Quilting Ministry Please join us the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Shepherd Center at Southside from 2:30pm until 4:30pm. Join us this Wednesday, June 10th! We make the prayer quilts provided to anyone in need of them - as well as quilts sent through Lutheran World Relief to countries all around the world. You may also pick up a cutting kit (cut squares from the material and pattern provided) or a sewing kit (sew squares provided into rows and then sew the rows together) and these are located in the Donation Central area at either location. Even if you don't sew, there are parts of the process anyone can do. And if you sew but don't feel terribly experienced, our team will show you how easy it is. Come out and be a part of the fun!! CONGREGATIONAL MEETING (one of only two for the year) will be held on Wednesday, June 10 th at the Southside Location. A time of when we meet we eat fellowship will begin at 5:30pm. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm. Come and hear (and celebrate!) how the Spirit is working in your congregation, in the community and in the world! There will be special reports from Vision for Mission, a preliminary report from Pr Johnson from his recent Sabattical as well as the Day school having now completed another successful year! We will also provide mid-year update on our church in action as well as holding election of Council Members. Four positions were open and four nominations have been received. Copies of these nominations forms are available in the church office at Southside and at the usher table at the lakeshore. Don t miss out on these important reports and updates. Visitors are always welcome to attend. Sign up on the pink insert if you are planning to attend! MOVING MINISTRY Do you have the "gift to lift?" We have an opportunity in the community at large to help someone move who is unable to do so themselves- an opportunity to provide a "moving experience" as we use our gifts with Christ!! We will be assisting a person in the community at large who has Multiple Sclerosis who is also caring for her dad who has pancreatic cancer. We will be loading up her belongings here in Jacksonville and then driving to Gainesville and unloading at a home there. We are asking for help on the Jacksonville part or on the Gainesville side (or both!!). This assistance will start on Sat, June 13 at 9:00. Please respond on the pink insert for more information and specific directions to the Jacksonville or Gainesville sites. Thanks for any help you could be!! Summer School Volunteers Needed We need several volunteers, High School and older, who would like to assist during our Summer School program. Volunteers will assist 1st-8th grade students in reading, math, and writing. Summer School is on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, for 7 weeks between June 16 August 6, from 9am-3pm. Women s Bible Study usually meets at the Southside location from 10am to noon (regularly on the 2 nd and 4 th Monday of each month). This group has concluded their programing for the summer. See you in September! Men s Breakfast & Bible Study - meets the 1st Saturday of each month at 7:30am at Southside and the next meeting is Saturday, July 11th. Carl Helmers facilitates this group in the discussion. Please bring your Bible. This is a personal invitation to come and join us as we seek to learn more about God by studying His Word! See you there! YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL AND BIBLE STUDY are invited to study each Sunday, midway through the 9:15am Southside service and also midway through the 10:00 Lakeshore service. This follows the lessons, children s homily, and communion (which is offered to all baptized members of the body of Christ). YOUTH MINISTRY NEWS Shepherds Flock (K-3 rd grade) & Jr Youth (4 th -6 th grade) and Sr High Youth Group have completed their programing for this school year. See you in August! MUSIC MINISTRY NEWS SONSHINE SINGERS is our youngest choir open to children K-6 th grade. They are now on summer break until fall 2015! We look forward to seeing you this fall! SING OR RING UNTO THE LORD! There is a choir for every worship service, every ability, and every age of singer. If you attend the 9:15 service at Southside, that choir (Shepherd Singers) rehearses one hour starting at 5:30pm on Tuesdays. If you would like to join the choir (senior Choir) singing at our traditional services at Southside (5:30pm Saturday and 8am and 11am on Sundays), join us to rehearse from 6:15pm to 7:30pm. The Bell Choir usually rehearses on Tuesdays at 7:30pm but are now on summer break. Come join us making a joyful noise unto the Lord! **Many thanks for your support of the bake sale last weekend. The youth raised over $600 to assist them on their mission trip to Charleston, SC.
