1 Trinity Church LANCASTER Lancaster is a striking northern city dominated by its castle. It is primarily a service-orientated city with a large and vibrant arts community and two university campuses. The population of south Lancaster is a mixture of families who have lived in the area for generations and those who have moved to work, particularly at the universities and hospital. Barton Road Community Centre serves the local population with about 5 people from all ages using the centre each week - most of whom live within walking distance.

3 I have found them to have a real desire to reach their neighbours and friends with the gospel. I believe they are another light beginning to shine in an ever darkening part of the UK and would commend them for their work GUS EYRE, Association of Evangelists our ministry values We are convinced that the means of gospel ministry is the prayerful teaching of the Bible. It is as the Bible is taught in the power of the Spirit that God s voice is heard. We are convinced that the heart of gospel ministry is the proclamation of Christ crucified, because the message of the cross is God s way of saving people from his coming wrath. We are convinced that the focus for gospel ministry is the local church: it is primarily through the local church that unbelievers are brought to faith in Christ and believers are built up in him. Trinity Church shares our conviction that only the authentic handed-downthrough-the-generations Gospel will bring true hope and new life to people. 4 sundays From a standing start two and half years ago with four of us around a kitchen table 2 to 3 adults and children now meet Sunday mornings in the local community centre in south Lancaster - a mixture of local families and students. Sunday evenings we have met variously in homes and local pubs. midweek We meet formally during the week in homes for bible study and prayer. Several of us also meet 1:1 during the week. In addition a student bible study ( Student Plus ) has started to meet during the academic term. Lancaster is a growing city with a need for more gospel churches. Trinity is a pioneering ministry whom I d expect great things of for the future Video shorts made in and by our sunday school can be seen at STEVE KARMA Minister Lancaster Free Methodists outreach We rejoice in the unity we share as a congregation as we wrestle with how best to reach the many thousands around us who know nothing of the Lord Jesus and see nothing of their desperate need for him. Over the last couple of years we have sought to make initial contacts through flyering, leafleting, set piece evangelistic meetings and invitation events, both at Barton Road and in the local pub. It has also been a priviledge to have the local UCCF staff worker as a member of the church family and to seek to support him and our students in their strategic work on campus.

5 This looks an exciting prospect I am very happy to commend as you know I hold the ministry there in highest regard. MAURICE McCRAKEN Senior Pastor, Christ Church Liverpool Sunday Evening at The Snug planning for growth At present whilst everyone involved at Trinity is a tentmaker and pretty much at full stretch we are conscious of the desperate need to reach out more effectively with the gospel. We recognise that humanly speaking new churches tend to grow when people are freed up for ministry and so for the last year we have been looking to make our first staff apointment. We are thrilled that Chris Young has agreed to join us as a stipendiary minister from Autumn 217. "I am delighted by the gospel conviction, creativity and courage that I see in Trinity Church. We need more churches like this in England. LEE McMUNN, Mission Director, Anglican Mission in England (AMiE) chris young Following graduation from Durham University Chris spent two years as a Ministry Trainee at St Andrew s Leyland. He then joined the staff at St Andrew s overseeing the Sunday morning congregation. Since January 216 he has been supporting Justin Mote running the various NWP Training Courses and overseeing the Union Liverpool programme. For the last six months he has also been supporting the ministry at Trinity. It is expected that his appointment will be for between 3-5 yrs during which time Chris will complete formal theological training and explore options for ordination.
