2 From Your Lay Leader As I sit at my computer desk and type this message, I look out my window at my neighbor s yard and take in the beauty of the white blanket of snow. This snow has not been touched by anything yet and gleams beautifully in the morning. WAIT!! What am I saying?? I suppose the winter doldrums are getting to me as well. Let s begin again. I am, as most of you are, very tired of the cold and snow. Some winters it seems endless. Then I think about the promise God made to us of new life. So now my thoughts turn to spring and the beauty it brings. Tulips blooming in the yards, grass and trees turning green, what a spectacular sight! As I think about these things, I am reminded of the season we are in. The season of Lent, which in itself is a special time. It is the time of reflection on our lives and where we are going in our walk with the Lord. Yes, sometimes we falter, but God always picks us back up and welcomes us back into His arms. God has promised us new life by sacrificing His son on Calvary s cross for our redemption. As you go through this season of Lent, I ask that you reflect on where you are in your walk, and what more you could do to further yourself into God s kingdom. Pray on what God is asking of you, and how you can fulfill His desires for you. I agree with Pastor Al, as he said on Sunday, it is not necessary to give something up for Lent, but rather we should take on something new. There is so much waiting for each of us if we only take advantage of it. If you are one of the parents of little ones in the church, you should be able to see the wonderful happenings surrounding these children. Debbie in her Sunday School, and especially Pastor Al working with them to make them as aware as a young one can be. Sunday, he taught the children the importance of being there for each other. He had them lay hands on him, anoint him with oil, and pray for his surgery. What a true blessing this is! These children can learn so much from the church surroundings, but also need the help of you parents to appreciate what God has to offer them. I love the saying that goes Children learn what they live. No truer words have ever been spoken. As you go through this Lenten season, I pray you will impress on your children (and yourselves) the true meaning of Easter Sunday. Have a blessed Lenten season and a blessed Easter! 4 I am excited to announce that our Ladies Fellowship will be starting a new series called A Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. This bible study is a 5 month study and we will all be learning to count our blessings and find joy even in the midst of turmoil. The Bible says... Give thanks to the Lord of lords. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who made the heavens so skillfully. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who placed the earth among the waters. His faithful love endures forever. Give thanks to him who made the heavenly lights---- His faithful love endures forever. (Psalm 136:3-7) Giving thanks is an attitude that shows maturity in our walk with the Lord. I invite all women to come join us for this exciting study. We meet every 3rd Monday of the month in the adult lounge. We have light refreshments & appetizers, a lesson and lots of fellowship and laughter. Hope to see you all there and we would be blessed as group to see new faces. Patty Vargo

6 The annual Fruit Sale was a great success. We all enjoyed the delicious fruit and are healthier for it! The final profit was $785.00! This profit will be going to help pay off the loan for our new educational wing roof. We want to give a big THANK YOU to Paul and Sarah Zontek who stepped out of the boat and volunteered to take over the project. They were given helpful advice from the former project directors Don and Denise Bixby, Thank you to the Bixbys' for their many years of service to the Fruit Sale. Thank you to all the sellers who promoted and delivered all the orders. The Finance Committee Thanks you all! If you would like to remember a loved one or honor someone who you love this Easter you might want to order an Easter Flower to adorn the sanctuary on Easter morning. Please put your order in an envelope and give it to Karen Ruddon or Irma Jury any Sunday in March, or you can send it to the church office and mark the envelop "Easter Flowers".
