1 Union Church of Belgrade Lakes United Methodist Church Union Rider June, 2015 Newsletter Children / Youth Sunday, June 7, 2015 You are invited to join our special worship celebration of children and youth; their presence and joy they bring to our worship and church community. We are grateful for the dedication of parents and grandparents that have taken the raising of these children in the life of the church as a sacred responsibility. Bring a child, bring a friend to experience this joy we celebrate. Sunday Worship 9:30 a.m. Rake and Run" In Honor and Memory of BJ Howard When: June 7th following worship on our Celebration of Children Sunday. Where: BJ's house, 1012 West Rd. -A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 11 a.m. at the Center for All Seasons.

2 FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOR LUNCHEON Soups, sandwiches, deserts and more! Thursday, June 11, 2015 from 11:30 to 1pm. Come Join in the fellowship with our friends throughout the community. There will also be a game of trivia, come test your knowledge skills and have fun playing against everyone. We welcome one and all to join us in Worship; Praising God for our many blessings Sundays 8 a.m. Contemplative Prayer/Worship with Holy Communion each Sunday Sunday s 9:30 a.m. Vibrant Worship & Praise Service; Communion served the 1 st and 3 rd Sundays Sunday School for children of all ages during this worship time

3 Union Coffeehouse On June 13 at 7 PM, the Union Coffeehouse will present BRIO, a trio of talented entertainers who will present an eclectic selection of original songs, creative covers, and quirky classical daring-do. Spicing it all up with invented moments of unplanned music, the harmonic magic in the power of three will shine forth. BRIO features Matt Loosigian, Deb Hensley and Martin Swinger who accompany themselves on guitar, harp and percussion as part of their program. They share exactly what the world needs more of: powerful songs, lush harmonies, meaningful messages, and inspired audience participation. As always, an Open Mic hour will follow our featured entertainers. Enticing goodies baked by the Union Church Bakers Corps will be available to satisfy your munchy cravings. You can wash them down with coffee, tea or lemonade as you enjoy the entertainment. Be sure to mark June 13 on your calendar so that you won t miss another outstanding evening of wonderful music and delectable snacks at the Union Coffeehouse. Hope to see you there! Italian Dinner Night BUON APPETITO! It s time for the annual Italian Night dinner! So mark your calendars for Saturday evening, June 27, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This is a community-wide, public supper, so invite your friends and neighbors. We can promise you a wonderful multi-course Italian supper that is sure to satisfy your palate. A donation of $8 per adult, $4 for youth 5 12 years of age, and free for children under 5 years is requested. Come celebrate with us---enjoy good food, fun, and fellowship. The menu will consist of Italian antipasto, including fresh baguettes with olive oil, sliced pepperoni, artichoke hearts, and olives; insalata misto with vinaigrette; choice of an entrée consisting of a spaghetti casserole, and vegetarian and meat lasagna al forno; and a choice from an assortment of Italian desserts, including almond cake, a chocolate amaretti cake, peanut butter cookies with blackberry jam, and sesame cookies; as well as beverages. Delizioso! Volunteers in significant numbers are needed to set up, bake, serve, and clean up.. Everyone will have an opportunity to contribute his or her talents to this event! Recipes and baking pans will be provided to those who volunteer to cook Hope to see y all there!

4 We continue to be given the opportunity to help support those within our community with our monthly serving of a meals at the Bread of Life Ministries in Augusta. Tuesday, June 16 th is our next opportunity to serve. If the spirit moves you please sign up in Fellowship Hall to bring a main meal item, salad/veggies or a dessert. You can bring your items by Church that day at any time. Missions and Outreach will deliver to the Shelter by 5pm. We thank you for prayerfully considering to provide an item. We will join over 4,000 from all over the world in worship, prayer, communion, study and play. Pastor Joe and Annie will join our Bishop and others from United Methodist Churches of New England. Please hold them in your prayers during this time. July 17-27, 2015 FMI: Looking for summer opportunities to enrich the spiritual growth of your youth in a fun, caring environment.
