1 12 FAMILY To Our Guests We re glad you re here! You may be new in the Shoals area and Woodmont Baptist or a regular, but don t feel alone. We frequently have many guests in our services, and we find many have questions about being involved at Woodmont and joining our church. That s great, because we have some answers! When and how do I join? At the close of every service a song is sung and the pastor stands facing the congregation. Walk to the front at this time and the pastor will meet you. Attendance in the Membership Information Class (MIC) or Children s Information (CHIC) is required for membership. MIC is taught regularly by our Pastor. Attendance at the class may be before or after you walk to the front to unite with our church. Are there different ways to join? Yes. (1) By professing faith in Jesus Christ and following Him in water baptism. (2) By transferring your letter from another Southern Baptist Church. (3) By your statement of faith in Christ that you are a believer and acknowledgement that you have had a conversion experience and have been baptized by immersion after your salvation experience. If I have other questions, is there someone with whom I can talk? Certainly. Our pastor and staff would love to share with you more about our church and ministries. Often, of course, you can get a lot of information from a friend who is already a member. May I be a Sunday morning class member and not a church member? Of course. Some are. Our Sunday morning classes are called Bible Study Connection classes. These help you connect to God, to His Word, and each other! This is not church membership, but is an excellent way to get to know some of the Woodmont Folks and more about our church. 3 10 FAMILY FAITH 3 M I N I S T R Y I N A C T I O N IN- C H U R C H M I N I S T RY For over 25 years our church has provided a special program called In-Church Ministry. This ministry was started by a group who believed that our church needed to have daily contact with members who are sick, hospitalized, or going through a personal tragedy such as a death in the family. A special phone line and answering machine is set up in an office where workers come in each day from 9:00 - noon OR 3 hours in the afternoon to make phone calls, write letters, and fill out detailed records of the contacts that have been made. In-Church Ministry assists the Pastor, Church Staff, the Office, Sunday School Classes and our Deacons in providing information and vital communication of and to those in need. We want you to utilize this ministry in the event you and your family have a need or crisis. Continue to remember IN-CHURCH MINISTRY in your prayers. Help us to continue to reach out and serve our members during their time of need. If you would like to learn more and possibly help in this ministry, contact Lucille Martin at Ariel Pictures of Woodmont Ariel pictures have recently been made and framed of our church facilities. They are in the lobby for viewing before they are placed in our church history room located on the second floor of the B Building. Thanks to Lucille Martin and Betty Keller for organizing the project and Seth Thompson for taking the pictures. Participants will utilize the book by Dr. Jeremiah. Tina Simmons will be facilitating this class in room B-103 beginning August 15. "Foundations: Discipleship Group" - This class is taught by Faith Carpenter. It is designed to help disciple women into mature believers through a Bible reading plan, Scripture memory, and authentic relationships. This class will be completed when those being discipled make disciples. Participants will utilize the book "Foundations: A 260 Day Bible reading plan for busy believers" by Robby and Kandi Gallaty. Whether you already open your Bible every day, have never read it before, or struggle to keep up with studying Scripture, Open Your Bible, a 7-session study from the women behind She Reads Truth, will leave you with a greater appreciation for the Word of God, a deeper understanding of its authority, and a stronger desire to truly know the Bible inside and out. This class is facilitated by Loletha Simmons and meets in room B-101 at 5:00 p.m. Radical by David Platt This study invites you to encounter what Jesus actually said about being his disciple. Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated a God centered gospel to fit our human centered preferences.
