1 May 20 & 27, 2018 Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 22 Fox Run Road * Newington, NH 03801* office@htelc.com Come Together, Grow in Faith, Serve the LORD Summer Worship Schedule Just a reminder that on June 10th, Holy Trinity begins its one Sunday Service schedule. Worship begins at 9:30 am on that day and continues for thirteen weeks. We will alternate between the contemporary service (8:30) and the traditional service (11:00). June 10th is also the Semi-Annual congregational meeting (right after the service) and the Church Picnic (right after congregational meeting). The last Sunday on Summer Schedule is September 2nd. We resume the 8:30/11:00 services on September 9th. If you cannot make a Sunday service, you are always welcome to attend our Wednesday evening service at 6:00 pm. Graduation Sunday Graduation Sunday is June 17. On this day, we ll celebrate all of Holy Trinity s youth who have graduated High School & College. If you know someone from Holy Trinity who has graduated this year and would like to be recognized, please speak with the Church Office or Helen Goransson.

2 President s Article Greetings Everyone! Well, Spring has sprung, so-to-speak. The trees are leafing out and the grass is greening up. Hopefully, some consistently warm sunny spring temperatures will be coming along, although based on the last few years we ll probably just jump right into the three H s..hot, humid, and hazy. No sense complaining though. Pastor Tim s Installation Service two Sunday s ago was awesome. we had a full house including a dozen guest Pastor s, among them Pastor Roser, Associate to the Bishop, Pastor Don Blume, who administered the installation, and Pastor Geoff Sinibaldo, Tim s very close friend, who preached. Martha Balenger, Welcoming Team leader and her team and other volunteers, hosted a reception afterward, and all of us extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who worked, brought in food, helped set up, helped serve, and helped clean-up. It might have been pouring cats n dogs outside but who cared? Inside it was a wonderful, fabulous afternoon of high energy, high enthusiasm, and warm feelings. You probably noticed the bright colored Volunteer Sign-up brochure in the Sunday bulletin last week.. it ll be there for a few more weeks.. please give a lot of thought and consideration to signing up for something, either as a new task to get involved with, or a renewal of something you re currently doing. It s amazing how many tasks there are to be done toi help Holy Trinity be a wellfunctioning church, from conducting the worship services to carrying out the teaching of the word, to maintaining our physical plant. How many Lutherans does it take to conduct one of our services? No joke. 14 plus Pastor Tim!!!! From greeters to counters to ushers to Alter Guild etc. etc.. That s 28 on a two- 2

3 service Sunday! There s also what I call the internal teams (e.g. Faith Formation, Stewardship, Worship, Library, Property, and more) that help make the church work. But what we re really all about is the outside work we want to do, what I d call the external teams. Lots of help is needed on The Caring Team and the Social Ministry Team. Lots of opportunities to get involved doing good things that help folks and show them the love of Christ through good works. Also please note that as a thank you to all who have volunteered throughout the year, the Stewardship Team will again be hosting Sundae Sunday this Sunday (May 20th) between services. Always a good time. While on the subject of socializing, elsewhere in this issue of Tidings you ll see a note about another adult fellowship gathering, this one at Bad Lab Beer Co. in Somersworth on June 8th. The format will be similar to the gathering last fall everyone just relaxing and yakking for a couple of hours, noshing (grazing) and sipping a beer or glass of wine or soft drink or whatever. The Mid-Year Congregational Meeting will take place on June 10th following the 9:30 church service. This will be the day we start single services, running through Labor Day weekend. We ll go back to the two-service format Sept. 9th. At this point in time, there is not much on the meeting agenda. We ll have the mid-year Treasurer report, a few comments from Pastor, even fewer from me, and an opportunity for anyone to ask questions. Of course that s all three weeks or so away.. you never know if something might come up before then, but as it looks now, short-and-sweet is the order of the day. And then we ll go have our picnic!!! 4 Adult Gathering Back by popular demand, an evening of hanging out, relaxing and talking. Friday, June 8 at Bad Lab Beer Co. (460 High St., Somersworth) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Cost will be $25 per person, includes soft drinks, coffee/tea, and plenty of food (cheeseburger sliders, veggie sliders, a few chicken tenders or chicken kebabs and a few other items. Gluten free items will also be served). Cash bar for beer or wine. Payment in advance! See either Martha Belanger, or Dave Smith, or leave word with the office and we ll find you. HELP WANTED! Here at HTELC, we are in the midst of transitioning to new software for our church database. If you have knowledge or skill in the migration of information from one system to another, please contact Pastor Tim to see if we can utilize your help. In addition, we are in the process of creating a new website and are looking for someone to help be a webmaster. Again, If you have skill and knowledge in the building and maintaining of websites and would like to be considered to help, please contact Pastor Tim. Thanks in advance! 5 A Message from Pastor Msungu (Note: the following was an from Pastor Msungu sent to the Church Office. Please excuse any spelling or grammar mistakes, as we decided it was best not to edit his ) May the Lord Jesus be praised, I hope that all of them are going well, greetings to your family and community as well, in our side we are still going well and God is ever giving us the strength to live, also I understand that God for His grace continues to lead and fight for you as he did for the children of Israel, I pray to the Lord so that continues to give the strength and wisdom for his work. but also i believe in the power of healing has already become evident to my mother in Law( Dorothy Kasik ), we are praying for her daily. First of all I would like to present my healtfull thank to you and to your community for continuing to pray for my family and for the whole community of Isimani, and real in every day we will see the hand of God continuing to lead us with great power But also we thanks for a lot of things that we have did to us, and for our children. It's a lot of things that cannot be explained easily and I have nothing to say but God bless you, It was like dreaming in our parish to get a new motorcycle for our transport, we were handed over by a secretary of the diocese together with the Bega kwa Bega office in last week. The motorcycle we have received will help us to work more easily, and we will reach more people who are actually were lived interior place and for more mission area, even in last week we went to our new preaching point (Ulete) which at first was very difficult to reach the people from there, and we found 45 new believers, and some of them we were baptized 22 people. Although our 5

6 worship has been under the tree but the believers are growing daily, we have planned by the twelfth month this year, we have found over 100 new Christians, and our strategy to achieve these objectives is that we have begun to undertake three-day evangelism every month and this has helped us so much to continue to grow our church in general. so we beg you to pray for us so that God's him self can accomplish his work and manifest among his people so that they can increase his church that he has purchased with his precious blood, as he commands us in the book of Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." So we beg you to pray for us to complete this mission. In our hearts we have a great debt and we do not know what we can pay for relying on your love for us, but we are praying for you so that God Himself will bless you and all your generations. but the second thing I would like to thank for your donation which can able to instally electricity in our Church hostel at Isimani sekondari I am so convinced that from this year onward, many students will be well-versed in their studies and examinations, and I am sure from now our students will lead to good results in their studies. For our part the work has already been completed, and until now both dormitories have been installed the electrical system, (wayaring) and this work was done for just three days only, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, last week and we found very good technicians which have done the work effectively and for high quality. I am sure when you come and see the work you will be very happy and glorify the God who has achieved it. 6

7 but also on Friday I went to the Tanesko office (Tanzania Electricity Agency) for the taking a form of application. We thank God that I have succeeded on it and until now we were wait for the Tanesko to give us a payment estimate so we can pay, and after completing the payment the electricity will be installed in our hostels. although I'm not sure but I think after one month the whole process oftanesko will be finished and the electricity will be installed in our hostel, and for anything that will be done on this job I will tell you, so keep us on your praying for this work to be completed on time, and I,m sure that this work will be done well with great efficiency and really I will manage these funds well until the project was completed. ( The craft man at girls hostel for making electricity lain but also after completing this electricity project in our hostel, I know that we will find more student and Many students will come to live in our hostels, and the church will receive money from these students and I think after that we will able to run our selves this hostels. but also this week on Friday I will be a meeting with a hostel committee together with all parents whose children live here in the hostel, and some of the agenda that will be discussed on the meeting was 1. How we can collect stones and bricks for the fence construction in both hostels. 2. Construction of a modern stove and dining room for students 3. Reminding them to buy the hostel uniform of students, and the cost of such uniform will be provided by the parent or guardian of the student. And also after this meeting I will give you the feedback for all that we have predicted 7

8 and discussed. Finally I would like to thank again for all good we receive from you, may God bless and be upon with you daily for your activities, But I would like to thanks the Bega kwa Bega office and proffesa Lugalla for their love and cooperation that they show to us My wife Sporah remembers your love daily, especially for the great love you showed to us and the wonderful gifts that we cannot forget it in our life during our wedding, and really for every time when we use the instruments we see your great love for us Surely you re in our hearts, and we are on our daily prayer, GOD BLESS YOU REV.
