SINCERE SYMPATHY is extended to the family and friends of Harry Gordon, who died on Wednesday, August 26 th in Norwalk, especially to his wife, Adele Gordon and their son, Harry Lee Gordon. Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS MEETING will be held on Sunday, August 30 th starting at 9:15 a.m. in the library. TRAINING FOR NEW ACOLYTES will be held on Sunday, August 30 th at 9:15 a.m. in the sanctuary. Anyone in the 6 th - 10 th grades is welcome. Confirmation students are especially encouraged to come. Those who are already acolytes may attend if they wish, as there will be some changes; but Pastor Ann can instruct them on these changes the next time they acolyte. If you want to acolyte, but cannot attend, please contact the pastor. CONFIRMATION ORIENTATION is Wednesday, September 9 th at 7:00 p.m. for all 7 th and 8 th grade students and parents. If you did NOT get a letter in June and have a 7 th or 8 th grader, contact the church office. Confirmation class begins on Sunday, September 13 th at 4:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. SUNDAY SCHOOL THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN. Come join us in two weeks for Rally Sunday on September 13 th at 9:15 a.m. THE FRESHMEN WELCOME/GENERAL YOUTH MEETING will be on Sunday, September 13 th at 7:00 p.m. They will meet in the Youth Lounge for games, devotions and ice cream. 6 WE ARE LOOKING FOR A CHILDREN S CHOIR DIRECTOR. This position involves choosing music, weekly rehearsals (Sept. May), and periodic Sunday performances. Sunday, Sept 13, 2015, congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America will have the opportunity to gather together for "GOD'S WORK. OUR HANDS." Celebrate who we are as the ELCA - one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. IT IS WITH GRATITUDE AND SORROW that the St. Peter Church Council accepted the resignations of Marty Hanke and Marcia Adelman as the directors of our four choirs. Marty and Marcia have rendered over-andabove service to our music ministry in ways that few of us know. Both will be honored in worship on Sunday, September 20 th and with a reception between services on that day. We hope you will join us to give thanks for their many years of service to God and to the people of St. Peter. THE CHURCH COUNCIL IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE that Bob Battiste has agreed to become our Director of Music. This is a new position which involves oversight and coordination of all aspects of the music ministry, as well as directorship responsibilities for the senior and bell choirs. Bob began his duties this month and is already busy preparing music for the resumption of choirs in September. Please welcome Bob to our staff. He will be installed in worship on September 13 th. SENIOR CHOIR REHEARSAL resumes on Tuesday, September 7 th at 7:30 p.m. in the balcony. HANDBELL CHOIR REHEARSAL resumes on Tuesday, September 14 th at 6:15 p.m. in the library. THE SPECIAL CONCERN FOR AUGUST is the local Habitat for Humanity Firelands Chapter.
