2 Thirtieth Sunday -Ordinary Time October 28 & 29, 2017 This Sunday is Priest Appreciation Day. Pope Francis encourages us to support your priests with your love and prayers, that they may always be shepherds after Christ s Heart. Take the time to thank God for Fr. Ray s spiritual fatherhood and his leadership and be sure to express your appreciation to Fr. Ray for all he does! CHRISTMAS MASS SCHEDULE Since Christmas falls on a Monday this year, we have to make some changes. We cannot have five masses on Sunday! Therefore, we will have the 4 PM Family Mass (on Sun.) in Franklin as usual. The Christmas Eve Mass in Tilton will be at 8 PM instead of 7 PM, and we will not have a Mass at 11:30 PM. On Christmas morning, we will have Mass as usual in Tilton at 8:30 AM and in Franklin at 10:30 AM. No! The Sunday night masses do not count for both the weekend and the Holy Day. Hope this information helps you plan ahead. We join the Church throughout the world in fulfilling our evangelical mission to go out to all the world. The Society for the Propagation of the Faith coordinates programs for evangelization and catechesis throughout the world. It is not too late to give! Cemetery News Please note that the cemeteries will officially close on November 1, when the water will be shut off. However, the gates will remain open until after Veterans Day (November 11). Burials will continue until the ground is frozen. FAITH ENRICHMENT PROGRAM Adult Instruction Classes (RCIA)- Please join us on Tuesday nights at 6:30 PM at St. Mary s Church Hall in Tilton Plenty of room for more people! Call the rectory, talk to Deacon Tom or just drop in. The classes run through the winter and conclude at the Easter Vigil, March 31, 2018.

In the Book of Exodus, God says: You shall not molest or oppress an alien, for you were once aliens yourselves. Immigration is certainly a controversial topic these days. Many strangers are showing up in our towns and neighborhoods, dressed differently, speaking a different tongue and worshipping God in their own unique way. On the surface, we can t help but notice how different they are from us yet God points out that we have a lot in common. We, or more likely our ancestors, showed up on these shores fleeing poverty, injustice and/or persecution. We huddled with our own kind, took jobs that others did not want and worked hard at pursuing the American Dream. Most of us have done alright for ourselves. We could argue on behalf of these illegal alien that most are hard working, honest members of our society, that our aging society needs young immigrants to maintain our lifestyle, that ethnic diversity has always been one of our national strengths, that our reputation around the world as a land of freedom and opportunity is on the line or even that Christian charity leaves us no choice but to welcome them. But none of these arguments are as convincing as this quote from the Bible. We welcome the alien and the refugee because God wants us to. He says it s time we paid forward the kindness and compassion extended to our ancestors when they came to America. God said it! End of debate! End of story! 4 Council # 638 Meets Monday night at 7:30 PM in Franklin. Don t Forget: The Angel Fair Saturday, November 4. Be sure to pick up your raffle tickets! You can find tickets at all entrances at both churches. It is important to the success of the Angel Fair that we all take at least three books and buy or sell them. Be sure to attend the Fair next Saturday from 8AM until 3 PM! There is something for everyone! This is our parish s major fund raiser, come be a part of the success! Remember to check-out Happening This Week in the bulletin to see where you can volunteer to help. TIP: When attending the Angel Fair, don t forget to bring your address labels to use for the raffle tickets. Add your phone number to the labels this will expedite filling out all the raffle tickets A Reminder from Catholic Charities about Medicare Part D: The annual enrollment period for Medicare Advantage and prescription drug benefit plans starts Saturday, October 14, and the deadline for enrollment is Dec. 7. Seniors needing to or wishing to change their plans can contact Servicelink or Leonard Campbell at NH Catholic Charities, with questions. STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL Help! A suggestion has been made to change the Strawberry Festival to a ham and bean dinner (instead of the traditional turkey dinner) with strawberry shortcake for dessert. We would like to hear your opinion on this. Do you think it is time to change? The ham and bean dinner is not as labor intensive as the turkey dinner so it would be easier, with less demand for volunteers It is important to make this decision soon since we rely on donated turkeys for the turkey dinner.
