Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. 3 Reach Out Outreach and Caring 3 Daily Prayer Focus Monday: Dear Lord, Y ou have given us disciples who plant Your word in our hearts and minds which quenches our spiritual thirst, but we know that only You can make us grow with Your light. Amen. Tuesday: Gracious God, please help me to put away anger and prejudice and be reconciled with all others. Amen. Wednesday: Christ Jesus, remind me to be grateful in service to my community and be joyous as I walk on Your path to salvation. Amen. Thursday: Heavenly Father, beckon me forw ard to the Light of Your steadfast love and give me courage in making the unpopular but right choice today. Amen. Friday: Lord, I ask You to bless all my friends and family in every facet of their lives: physically, mentally, and spiritually as they need it. Amen. Soup and Chili Cook Off Please join us on February 26, 2017 following the 11 am service in the Family Life Center for St. Mark s Sixth Annual Soup and Chili Cook Off. Awards will be given: People s Choice and Judge s Choice. Admission charge is a freewill donation with proceeds going to the ASP mission trip in June. However, we cannot have a successful Soup and Chili Cook Off without your help! We need contestants to make yummy soup or chili. Remember, you can be a winner and receive fabulous prizes! Fill out the registration form on page six, and drop it off to the church office by Sunday February 19. We need BAKERS to make yummy desserts, pies and cookies. The bake sale will be a freewill donation with proceeds going to the New YOUth group! Items can be dropped off in the kitchen either on February 25 or 26. Volunteers are also needed to help ladle out the delicious soups and chili. A successful applicant should have an abiding faith in God and serve as a role model with an active faith life and genuine passion for being a disciple of Christ. The candidate should have mature leadership skills, with a strong grasp of principles involved in the evangelism and discipleship of students in middle and high school. Strong interpersonal and time management skills, along with the desire to work as part of a team to realize the shared goals of the larger church are also a must.
