2 Dear Church Last weekend we started a new series across our weekend services entitled FREEDOM. This message of FREEDOM in Christ (i.e. the notion that Jesus PLUS nothing else makes us acceptable before God) is a liberating truth for all of us to embrace. As followers of Jesus, Paul reminds us that we have been set free to live free. (Galatians 5:1) That s our hope. Religion tells people what they must do to earn favour with God. Christianity on the other hand tells people that we find favour in God, not because we might have managed to obey all the right rules and regulations, but because we have placed our faith in Christ and what He has done for us. Our hope is in Christ alone. It s JESUS and nothing else. So let s make sure we live in such a way that we honour our freedom in Christ. Our young adult community (approximately 90) returned last Monday from State Youth Games. This event in Warragul attracts thousands of young people and this was another great year for those in attendance from our church. This yearly activity is a significant part of our ministry allowing our young adults to get away, enjoy some competitive activities, grow closer with one another and push deeper into Jesus. We are also celebrating the fact that our church finished in third place overall when the competition results were tallied. Well-done BBC YA s! Have you got your tickets for the Sound of Music yet? NEXUS BYT is working hard on this production, which is being held at the Capital from July & Aug 2-4. Let s be praying for our youth ministry as they put together final plans for our mid-year Winter Camp for Years Numbers are being finalized and last minute preparations are being completed with only two weeks to go before camp. 3 BBC WEEKLY 17 JUNE 2018 MADCOW - WELCOME I would like to introduce the latest member of the MADCOW team. Fiona Mummery. Fiona has many years of experience working with the vulnerable and marginalised. She now joins our team as the Community Engagement Worker. If you haven t met Fiona, please take a moment and say hello. Fiona will work closely with the homeless and marginalised in our community and try to make stronger connections with them. 4 PRAYER AND PRAISE Please be praying for: Brock s Dad, for salvation, softening of his heart to Jesus & for his stem cell operation on 18 July. Healing & answers to continual headaches for Jordan Gleeson. John s friend who struggles with addictive behaviours, as he waits for an availability in a rehabilitation house. 1Hope members & strengthening of our connection into schools. Coll Hastings daughter, Julie, who continues with slow improvements after her head injury. Please pray for clarity of thought, improvement in speech, & freedom from head pain as she attempts a part-time return to work. Keith Livingstone, as they work through the outcomes of his recent surgery & pray too for wisdom for the medical staff treating him. Pray for wisdom & strength for Jo as she juggles family & the business. CH suffering mental health issues; for a plan going forward, knowing she will be discharged from hospital soon. Kristy Watson s Uncle Bob is miraculously breathing & speaking on his own! Still many surgeries to go, but praise God for his progress so far! Please pray for Bob s salvation. Jess Hinson as she continues to rehabilitate & adjust to walking on crutches. Praise God for: Men and women who are helping to disciple key youth leaders in the life of our church. Giftedness and commitment of key leaders that serve faithfully in the life of Church. The impact and influence of our community care and engagement across the city Ruth Mott s granddaughter Amelia has greatly improved, & now back in Australia. Continue to pray for her recovery. The richness of God s provision. We exceeded budget in the month of May and we are only approximately $2,000 behind budget YTD. Janine Vendy, for strength & continued healing of her liver & her body. Joyce Stait for peace following day surgery on Friday, & her recovery after this. Marjorie Mason for improvement of health. God s provision & discernment regarding 128 Victoria St. Eaglehawk following conversation at our member s meeting last week. The Girls Brigade Victoria 125th Thanksgiving service today, & the 125th birthday party at Girls Brigade Bendigo (18th June) that it will be a blessing to those who attend & an amazing celebration of the faithfulness of God over 125 years of continuous mission to girls & their families across the world. Sonia Hinson for healing of her back. Rosalie went home to be with the Lord last week. Please pray for her mother Rosebud & her 13yo Moussa, as they had the funeral on Friday. Peter Purtill as he awaits his hernia operation on the 29th June. Tim Schofield s brother Tracey Schofield who is out of surgery and improving. His lungs are working properly at the minute, & his infection is clearing slowly. They still need to investigate a few things after he s over his infection. He expects to be in hospital another week. Please keep praying for God to speak to him in a way he understands. 45 Registrations for the Global Leadership Summit on October We are praying for 200 conference delegates from across our city and state. A great opportunity for influence. The establishment of new small groups and the need for new leaders to facilitate environments, which are conducive for being and making Disciples of Christ. Sense of unity and alignment across the life of our Church as we seek to help people become fully devoted followers of Christ.

5 HOSTING OPPORTUNITY Would you be interested in hosting a young Indonesian person for three weeks in November? Or do you have a business where you could provide an internship for three weeks? The Australian Indonesian Youth Exchange Program (AIYEP) is looking for host families & organisations in Bendigo from 5th to 28th November. AIYEP is a partnership between the Australian & Indonesian governments & is in its 37th year. Indonesians and Australians aged between stay with a host family in the other country & participate in work and cultural experiences. This would be a great opportunity for you to share your home and show God s love to someone from another country.
