2 Celebration of Worship - 5th Sunday in Lent This is the fifth Sunday of Lent. Lent spans 40 days (not counting Sundays) between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. We journey from the ashes of death to resurrection life, because the tomb of Jesus Christ was empty! This season of Lent know that God longs for your presence, God invites you into His house of worship, & God invites you to pray during the week. Lent offers an opportunity to examine our spirits and reconcile ourselves to God by the grace given through faith in our Risen Lord Jesus Christ. *CALL TO WORSHIP (Isaiah 49:5-6, 13) Liturgist Doug Obermeier Leader: Isaiah the prophet of God speaks of the Lord s Suffering Servant to come, whom we now know was our Lord Jesus Christ. People: And now the LORD says, Who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, so that Israel is gathered to Him (For I shall be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and My God shall be My strength), Leader: indeed, the Lord says: "It is too light a thing that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make You as a light for the nations, that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth." People: The LORD, the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel, says to the one who is despised and rejected by a nation, to the one who is the servant of rulers: "Kings will stand at attention when You pass by. All: Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! Pastor Jeff Warrick Gracious God, we admit that we misuse our seasons of life. When young and full of boundless energy we too often drift away from You, even graduating from You, when middle-aged, we claim we are too busy with life to serve Your calling on us, when older, we may say its someone else's turn. But You call people of all ages and seasons of life to serve You daily. 4 Holy Week Worship Schedule March 25 - Palm 10:30 a.m. - Worship. Easter Egg Hunt for the children following worship. March 29 - Maundy 7:00 p.m. in the parlor - Upper Room Worship Service with the Lord's Supper. March 30 - Good 7:30 p.m. - Choir-led Worship (Tenebrae Service). Reflects increasing darkness as we move toward the cross and Jesus' Crucifixion. April 1 - Easter Sunday! - 9:00 a.m. Congregation Breakfast - 10:30 a.m. Celebration of Worship! Bakers Chocolates are still available for purchase for $3 and $6 for those of you needing something special for your Egg-citing Easter basket or for your own sweet-tooth!! All proceeds will benefit the CCC handicapped remodeling project. Please contact Tammy Rikli for more information or check the back table before or after church on Sunday mornings. NEXT SUNDAY (PALM SUNDAY) is our annual GSPC Easter Egg Hunt for elementary and younger children so be ready to search high and low for delicious Easter Egg treats. If the weather is nice, the hunt will be outside. Otherwise, we ll hunt in the church building. The fun starts right after the worship service. SUNDAY, APRIL 1ST, is our Easter Sunday Breakfast in the church parlor. There is no Sunday school that day, but come at your regular time and enjoy some delicious breakfast and fellowship before church. The Congregational Outreach Team will begin serving at 9:00 a.m., the worship service is at 10:30 a.m. Women's Summer Bible Study - Are you interested in this summer study that takes place 7:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday mornings? Please let Luan Pitsch know or her at slpitsch@gmail.com. Luan wants to make sure there's continuing interest, or if people might want to take a break. All answers are welcome. Page 3

Fill out the form, attach your check, and drop in the box next to the registration forms or mail or drop it off at the church office. VBS ANNOUNCEMENT! Captain Caroline invites children from 4 yrs. old through 5th Grade to experience the ride of a lifetime with God at Rolling River Rampage Vacation Bible School! This white-water rafting adventure includes exciting music, amazing science, creative crafts, fun recreation, and memorable Bible stories that will help children know God is always with them as they ride the rapids of life! The adventure runs from June 4 th - June 8th, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church WE ARE CONTINUING TO NEED VOLUNTEERS WHO WOULD BE WILLING TO WATCH THE LITTLE ONES, WHO ARE NOT YET OLD ENOUGH TO PARTICIPATE IN SUNDAY SCHOOL, ON SUNDAY WHILE THE PARENTS ATTEND THE YOUNG ADULTS SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS. 6 The GSPC Sunday School provided for the Sunday School adopted family a food basket for Thanksgiving, a special Christmas which included gifts, food and gift cards, and will, also, be providing a meal & basket for Easter. Monetary donations are always appreciated, and the offering we collect each Sunday during Sunday School goes toward the family as well and any donations large or small are appreciated. Thank you so much for supporting this outreach project!...krystle Anderson & Andrea Langrud, Co Sunday School Superintendents THE SEEKERS AND FRIENDS will be attending the musical Bridges of Madison County, on Friday, March 23rd, at the Nebraska Wesleyan McDonald Theatre. Tickets are $12.00 each and will need to be ordered in advance. If interested in attending this musical, please contact Rose Dymacek. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Invitation to Observance of the Lenten Discipline (ponder God s great grace) Please take time this season of Lent to ponder the great grace of our good God. Let every instance of grace you see in the world draw you mind to the greatest act of grace ever, God s own son, Jesus, given over in sacrificial love. To help draw our minds to the great grace of God, would you please bring in, over the Lenten season, an image(s) of grace. Perhaps an image of kindness, or sacrifice, or love, or something else. There will be a collection basket up front, just drop your image(s) off. They will be collected into a collage of grace for Holy Week. Page 5

7 Praises & Prayer Requests.... For those with cancer Please continue to pray for Megan Misegadis, friend of Laura Warrick, who has stage 4 colon cancer and started chemo on Tuesday, February 27th. Continued prayers for David Gokie, husband of Hannah Baker, niece of Bill & Jean Baker, and Georgia Raecke, who is suffering with myeloid leukemia. Much gratitude for all the prayers. David is now back at work, but is continuing taking chemo treatments daily. Continued prayers for Mike Novotny, friend of Chris Hartley, and his family in your daily prayers as he fights a tough battle to keep his spirits up while trying to improve. Please continue prayers for Codie Meehan s sister, Katie's father-in-law, Bruce Kosch. He is losing his battle with cancer and they have spoken with Hospice to make plans for his comfort in his final days. Also, for his wife and children as they face the grief of losing someone they love so much. Also, for Codie Meehan s sister-in-law Audra's mother, Sandra, who was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer that has already spread. She started chemotherapy immediately..... For those with other health & prayer concerns Continued prayers for Don Hobbs who is now recuperating at his home from pneumonia. Prayers for comfort and quick healing for Alice Miller, our Choir Director, who is scheduled for upcoming hip replacement surgery March 21st. Continued prayers for Carolyn Dietz who is now recuperating at home. Continued prayers for Cindy, mother of a co-worker of Beth Rainey, who is now on dialysis and doing much better. Thank you for your prayers. Continued prayers for Betty Fisher who has been placed in Hospice care at the Martha House at Tabitha. Thank you for your continued prayers for Annette Kliewer, Julie Haverner s mom. She has suffered from severe diabetic neuropathy which has taken away her ability to walk and even get out of her home. Please pray for improvements, healing, and for God to uplift her spirits and give her hope that healing is possible.....for those who mourn Continued prayers for comfort for Connie Hilligoss and family on the death of Connie s mom, Ede Mathews, Friday, March 2nd. A celebration of life service was held at the church Thursday, March 15th. Continued prayers for comfort for Norma, family and friends of Al Christiansen who passed away Wednesday, February 21st.
