1 March 25, 2018 Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church: Welcomes you into a place of worship and friendship, where all generations grow together spiritually and strive to be more Christ-like. Worship 10:30 a.m. Welcome to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church 8300 East Pointe Road Lincoln, NE Telephone:
2 Celebration of WORSHIP- Palm Sunday! Today, we mark the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem at the beginning of the week we call Holy Week, an event that still reverberates to this day. Over the centuries Christians have been a bit unsure what to do with Palm Sunday. Jesus Himself seemed torn as He entered Jerusalem because the people did not truly recognize their time of visitation from God. (Luke 19:41-42) 42) The people shouted, Hosanna (save us) but when Jesus did not meet their political aspirations, they turned on Him. Yet Jesus offers the greatest love ever, the greatest opportunity ever and the greatest gift ever. CHILDREN S CHOIR No Mountain High Enough (Charles Kirby) Hosanna, Loud Hosanna (Ella Combe) *CALL TO WORSHIP Ashley & Alayna: Mom! Dad! Everyone! See what is happening! People: What s happening! Kitty: People are cheering, and waving palm branches, and running around all over the place. People are celebrating! People : What s happening! Pastor: The kids are shouting and laughing and having fun! People: What s happening? Ashley/Alyana/Kitty: Jesus is coming! *HYMN Good Shepherd Sings! pgs & (on screen) Ride On, King Jesus *PROCLAMATION OF THE ENTRANCE TO JERUSALEM (based on Zechariah 9:9)...Liturgist Kitty Fynbu Leader: Rejoice greatly all people of the Lord. All you people of Lincoln, those from surrounding communities, and guests from far away. Sing loudly! Behold, your King comes to you, People: triumphant and victorious is He, humble and riding on a donkey, even on a donkey's colt. We open our eyes to see His glory. We wave our palms triumphantly to celebrate Jesus s entry into Jerusalem. Leader: Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, People: Hosanna in the highest! Leader: Let us sing to our King, Jesus Christ, the King of kings. Proclamation Continued John 12: Pastor Jeff Warrick *HYMN #88 (Children s Palm Processional) All Glory, Laud, and Honor (verses 1 & 2) LIFE OF THE CONGREGATION...Pastor Jeff Warrick Page 1

As you might know, Camp Calvin Crest is in the process of updating their cabins to be handicapped accessible to meet the needs of all mobility issues. Once the first cabin update is completed, more cabins will follow, if the funding allows. We are asking our congregation to support this worthy endeavor on behalf of Camp Calvin Crest. Each cabin remodel costs around $15,000 to complete. If you choose to participate, please write GSPC on your check and in the memo line write: CCC remodel project. On Easter Sunday, we will be dedicating the special funds raised on behalf of Camp Calvin Crest. Invitation to Observance of the Lenten Discipline (ponder God s great grace) Please take time this season of Lent to ponder the great grace of our good God. Let every instance of grace you see in the world draw you mind to the greatest act of grace ever, God s own son, Jesus, given over in sacrificial love. To help draw our minds to the great grace of God, would you please bring in, over the Lenten season, an image(s) of grace. Perhaps an image of kindness, or sacrifice, or love, or something else. There will be a collection basket up front, just drop your image(s) off. They will be collected into a collage of grace for Holy Week. Page 3
