17 YOUNG MINISTERS AFTERNOON SEMINAR Seminar # Course Title Course Description Instructor Session CC/CERT YMS1 YMS2 Sermon Preparation Vision Mission & Strategy This seminar will discuss ways to prepare a sermon. Ministers prepare sermons to help people obey Jesus, (Matthew 28:20). Learning, equipping, rebuking, encouraging, comforting, etc. - all come along for the ride. The Church is Christ's custodian of His good news. A sermon communicates that good news. The most necessary task for a preacher is also the most elusive; discerning what to preach on. How does one choose a text or a topic? It is done with the Spirit's gift of discernment. This is a matter of prayer, serious exposure to the material, time and perhaps some false starts. This seminar will explore and look at how to develop one's Vision (the dream), Mission (the what and why), and Strategy (the how) for ministry. Everyone has a dream. But the most successful individuals take that dream and find a way to make it happen. This seminar seeks to help young ministers do just that. This strategic planning process helps young ministers define their dreams, set their goals, define ways to meet those goals, and finally, develop practical ways to bring about needed changes in ministry.
