PRESCHOOL NEWS It's happening next Sunday and we can't wait for you to be a part of it! That's right, the Chili/Soup/Dessert Cook -off is happening Sunday, January 14 immediately following the 11:00 service. Please join us for Pre-school's biggest fundraiser while having some great food. Each year we raise approximately $1,300; the goal this year is $5,000. Together, we can do it! All proceeds will benefit the Legacy of Love campaign. Please see the sign-up in the church lobby and enter your special chili, soup, or dessert in the cook-off! The infant and preschool expansion is only a few months away and many of you have asked how you can help. There is a wooden treasure box with pledge cards and envelopes located under the television screen in the lobby for you to place contributions. Whether you choose to make a gift now or at various intervals, please be sure to indicate "Legacy of Love" on the check. We have a dedicated account specifically for this wonderful purpose. Romans 1:29-30 describes the lives of unbelievers who have shunned God: "They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of env y, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents." Gossip and slander belong to unbelievers who have rejected God. When we gossip, we talk like people who have rejected Christ. May God be glorified not only by our actions, by in the words we speak.

3 CALLING PARENTS AND INFANTS/TODDLERS THIS IS FOR YOU! Beginning Sunday January 28, 2018 we are offering a special hour for parents and their little ones to enjoy fellowship, adult conversation, and be fed in God s Word. We will be starting J.A.M. Sprouts, a Bible Study and fellowship time for parents and their children (Birth-2 years old). Meet us in the church nursery, let the kids play, fuss, eat, and whine, whatever and you can enjoy some relaxed time to refresh your soul! SWEETS FOR YOUR SWEETIE! Whether you need a divine sugar fix or you want to share the sweetness, mark your calendar for Sunday, February 11. We are hosting a Sweets for Your Sweetie Bake Sale. But not just any goodies, these will be top of the line, homemade, irresistible, desserts for even the pickiest palates! Everything will be free-will donation and all proceeds will support the Legacy of Love campaign. DID YOU KNOW? Lutheran Women s Missionary League (LWML) collects change in Mite Boxes. Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1 4), the Mite Box is intended for regular contributions of "mites" offerings above and beyond the support given to congregations and the LCMS. Mite Box contributions amount to millions of dollars that fund district and national mission grants and implement the LWML program. JANUARY is Mite Month, so pick up a Mite Box at the info booth and add your change throughout the month. 5 ANOINT WITH PRAYER A cheerful look brings joy to the heart and good news gives health to the bones. Proverbs 15:30 Judi Kuppler continues to heal from bronchitis and a sinus infection that have left her struggling. Pray for God s healing hand on Judi and strength for her and Wayne. Elizabeth Vance is the mother of Mary Williams daughter in law. Elizabeth has been placed on hospice. Lift prayers of peace and comfort for Elizabeth and her family during this time. With a new year come new opportunities to serve God. Lift prayers of thanksgiving for those opportunities, that He may be glorified in all we do and say. Many in our country are being affected by severe winter weather. Pray for God s protection and strength during these difficult days. In addition to your prayers, please consider sending a card to let someone on the prayer list know you are concerned for them. A new era was beginning. Moses was giving his farewell address to the people he had led for forty years. He reminded them of the faithfulness of God, and he warned them that many challenges to their faith lay ahead. Walking with God, he told them, would bring life and blessings. Any other path would lead to death and curses. What do you choose for this new year you are entering into?
