Its exciting to watch through scripture Gods plan unfold by using the most unlikely people to carry out the difficult tasks he places before them to achieve his ultimate goal, to reunite with his people. ADULT DISCIPLESHIP A Message from Rev. Cinda This past week we had a huge scaffolding covering our chimney. Our 96 year old chimney was suffering from years of wet and damp and was crumbling from the inside out. We had many expert opinions of how to fix the problem, from not using the chimney at all, to a total rebuild. The bricks inside had fallen down to block the opening to the fireplace flue. Fortunately they hadn t totally blocked the side our furnace vents from or I might not be here to write this story! We opted for the total rebuild, taking apart the chimney and rebuilding from the roofline up, and putting in the terracotta flue pipes that should have been installed there in the first place. I got to thinking about how our caved-in chimney is a lot like our lives. Over years of freeze and thaw cycles in our faith, we too can crumble from the inside out. We have all kinds of options of how to deal with the issue. We can decide to just not use our faith or we can rebuild the parts that are shutting down life. Sometimes we need to clear out the stuff that blocks our relationship with God at the problem spot. This Easter is a perfect opportunity to check out the chinks in our faith and repair with Jesus, the true mortar, by whom we build our hope and our lives. Rev. Cinda I wanted to thank you all for my wonderfully generous Christmas gift! Your Amazon Gift Card has enabled me to complete my home library of Word Bible Commentaries, 51 volumes. Now I have a commentary for every book in the Bible, describing it verse by verse. What more could anyone want! Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! Cinda

Give to One Great Hour of Sharing The other half of our offerings is designated to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance to enable volunteers to continue helping victims of the flooding in the United States. Please give what you are able through your Fish Banks or through special offering envelopes on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday. Hebron Has A Heart Hebron Conducts A Super Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive Souper bowl of caring food drive Sunday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 14 Bring in any of the following items to be donated to the WA Food Pantry: Soups like Tomato, Chicken Noodle, or Vegetable Canned Tuna Egg Noodles Boxes of Mac n Cheese Shaving Cream Plastic Razors Paper Towels Sponsored by the Mission Committee. On Super Bowl Sunday, Hebron kicked off its own Souper Bowl with members donating items needed at the West Allegheny Food Pantry including cans of soup. The food drive continued for two weeks. Each Sunday, we reached our goal of filling the large tub with donations. Hebron Has A Heart. A Big Thank You to our Volunteers who Helped at the West Allegheny Food Pantry during Hebron's assigned month of cold January. They unpacked the food delivery truck and helped distribute the food to the folks who came to get their food on distribution days. Thank You To Hap Marburger, Dick and Constance Purdy, Edi Davidson, and Rev. Isler. These folks gave their time to help those in need from our community proving that Hebron Has A Heart. We continue to collect ONE DOZEN ONLY egg cartons (no cardboard cartons) and plastic bags for the WA Food Pantry. Bring them with you when you come to church on Sunday. You can leave them in the containers you'll find in the coat room.

4 Session Highlights The following are a few items of interest decided by your ruling elders at the February session meeting -- from Clerk of Session, Ruling Elder Robbie Shoup 1. Session will meet on the third Thursday of each month 2. The youth will lead the Easter Egg hunt on Palm Sunday 3. The Deacons will sponsor a luncheon on Palm Sunday 4. Robbie Shoup and Eleanor Adams were selected to be Hebron's Commissioners to Presbytery and will attend the Pittsburgh Presbytery meetings 5. Hebron will host the June West Branch Presbytery meeting. 6. The Chairperson of Personnel and the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee recommended Ruling Elder Robbie Shoup to serve as Clerk of Session. The session voted and approved her to be the clerk for this session year. 7. Session will be devoting the beginning of each meeting to an in depth study using the series, Knowing God in a conscious effort to continue with their spiritual growth as begun last year with studying the book, Becoming a Blessed Church. 8. Session committees provided dates of upcoming meetings: Adult Discipleship on March 3 at 6pm, Christian Education on March 10 at 6pm, Mission on March 13 at Noon following worship. 9. The next meeting of session will be Thursday, March 17 at 6:15pm. Hebron has a very BIG Heart! The money donated to the Good Samaritan Fund on Christmas Eve and several following Sundays, amounted to an amazing total of $2, The Mission Committee is very grateful to so many who donated to this fund that helps our neighbors in need. We have received a meaningful gift from the Cain Family in memory of their husband, father, and our Hebron member Dale Cain. They purchased for Hebron Church a beautiful funeral pall to be used for funeral services in our church. A pall is placed over the casket at the beginning of the funeral service and signifies that the person has been covered in their baptism by the grace of Christ. By it we have a visible reminder that those who are baptized into Christ are also raised in the resurrection with Christ. The Cain s chose a white pall with an Easter lily outlined in green and yellow in the center. The white lily is also symbolic of resurrection to eternal life. Many thanks to the Cain family for such a thoughtful gesture. Happy Anniversary Please remember to pray for all our members who are on our prayer list, our homebound, and our brave people serving in the military. March Douglas & Edith Davidson 41 years April Please submit prayer requests on Sunday mornings by writing on a Prayer Request Card that is found in the pew, or through hebronchurch@zoominternet.net Delbert & Dolores Combs 53 years
