Also have facilitated numerous council retreats and visioning sessions, and helped out as a sounding board to subsequent chairpersons. At the Synod level served on a task force [abut 6 7 years ago] with Bishop Gerhard on development of a Synod vision presented it at the conference in Nanaimo. Also supported Bishop Gerhard by working with specific congregations experiencing challenges. Led several workshops on council leadership at Church Depot sessions. At the conference level presented at several conference sessions, and asked by several congregations to assist with setting direction, governance, developing strategic plans and so forth Urban Systems Foundation which is the vehicle created by our company for community service. The focus is on kids less fortunate than us with numerous projects and activities at each of our branch offices and overseas in Uganda. I have served as president for the past 6 years. Danish Canadian National Museum Society the museum, located in Dickson Alberta, is dedicated to showcasing and telling the story of Danish Heritage in Canada. I am in my 4 th year on the Board of Directors and am on deck to become the president in several months. I still work, but am gradually moving toward semi-retirement I now work 3 days per week on average, which will likely continue for the next 2 3 years. Much of what I can bring to the Synod council table is experience and insights I have gained in 37 years of being part of a larger partnership in building and sustaining a successful consulting practice that now employs 350 people with 8 offices in BC and Alberta. I served as CEO for 13 years from 1992 to 2005, and am now working extensively with my successors, and working with many younger folks in career growth and seasoned veterans in career transitioning. My passion is people, doing whatever I can to support them in becoming the best they can be. A point of pride for me is that Urban Systems consistently is selected as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada, as featured in the Globe and Mail. I am an avid student of leadership and organizational development, particularly making shared leadership work in a non-hierarchical networked organization [as opposed to the more traditional top down hierarchical corporate structure].
