For me, it means to promote and do good to all those that we encounter. This means to give each and every person what they need to be successful especially those who sometimes need a little more. This is the true meaning of justice giving everyone what they need to achieve success. With this premise, the quality of our care and concern for others is only truly measured by how we help those who need it most. PRINCIPAL S 5 YEAR APPRAISAL Over the past two weeks I have been involved in completing my 5 Year Appraisal. All members of the school community have had an opportunity to contribute students, parents and staff. I would sincerely like to thank all those who contributed by completing the survey or being interviewed by the panel. The process was very affirming of the work of the school and also provides future direction for the coming years. A special thank you to the panel, which was comprised of Michael Preece, Michelle Miller and Peter Shearer, for giving their time and skills to this process for the betterment of our school community. TRANSITION This week we have 9 kindergarten students participating in our Transition Program. All of these children will start school at St Joseph s next year. We warmly welcome all of these children along with their families into our school community and wish them all the best as they begin their time with us. Also, some of our Year 7 students have been involved in the Peterborough High School Transition Program. On Tuesday they listened to current PHS students who discussed what it is like to be at high school. They were able to ask questions and chat about life at PHS. They will be involved in other activities over the coming days and weeks to support their transition to high school next year. GRADUATION MASS & CONCERT SAVE THE DATE As mentioned in previous newsletters, the Graduation Mass and End of Year Concert will be held on different days. Our concert will be held on Thursday 11 th December and will begin with a BBQ tea at 5:30pm followed by the Concert and the P&F Raffle. On Friday we invite you to attend Mass to celebrate the year and to farewell our Year 7 students. Mass will be at 12:00pm and the school day will conclude at the end of Mass. - Damian Smith

2 FROM THE APRIM This Sunday we celebrate the feast of Christ the King, it is the last Sunday of Ordinary time before we enter into the season of Advent and prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas time. Sunday s Gospel - Matthew 25:31-46 The Final Judgement When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne, and the people of all the nations will be gathered before him. Then he will divide them into two groups, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the righteous people at his right and the others at his left. Then the King will say to the people on his right, Come, you that are blessed by my Father! Come and possess the kingdom, which has been prepared for you ever since the creation of the world. I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes, naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me. The righteous will then answer him, When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you in our homes, or naked and clothe you? When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you? The King will reply, I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these followers of mine, you did it for me? Then he will say to those on his left, Away from me, you that are under God s curse! Away to the eternal fire which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels! I was hungry but you would not feed me, thirsty but you would not give me a drink; I was a stranger but you would not welcome me in your homes, naked but you would not clothe me; I was sick and in prison but you would not take care of me. Then they will answer him, When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and we would not help you? The King will reply, I tell you, whenever you refused to help one of these least important ones, you refused to help me. These, then, will be sent off to eternal punishment, but the righteous will go to eternal life. In this Bible story, Jesus tells us something amazing. When we are kind to people in need, it is like being kind to Jesus. Jesus has special love for people who are poor. So should we. We can show our love by sharing what we have with those in need. Poor people are not the only ones in need. Some older people are lonely because no one visits them. Some children have a hard time learning in school. Some people look or act different from the group and are bullied. And some people can t see, hear, or walk well. When we reach out to these people with a kind and generous heart, we reach out to Jesus. What can you do to show you care for your family members, friends, neighbours, and people in need? Think of some kind acts you can do. Talk with your family about which of these you can do together. Lord Jesus, our shepherd and king, help us to see your reflection in everyone we meet. - Bec Fahey

3 SCHOOL NEWS LEARNING IN THE 3/4 CLASS This term we have been learning to tell time to the minute. Below the students have shared their favourite time of the day and why it is their favourite. My favourite time is 3:45pm because I get to play the Playstation Callum My favourite time is 4:10pm because that is when my favourite TV show is on which is Sorry I ve Got No Head Josh My favourite time of the day is 9am because I like coming to school. Brodie My favourite time is 4:00pm because I get to play with my friends at home - Tara My favourite time of the day is lunchtime because we get to play with our friends - Tahlia My favourite time is 1:00pm because it is lunchtime and I enjoy it - Christine My favourite time is 1 O Clock pm because I get to play with my friends - Ella My favourite time is 12 O Clock on Saturday and Sunday because that is when I have lunch - Austin My favourite time is 24/12 at midnight because it is Christmas - Cooper My favourite time is 3:00pm because it is Lego time Daniel and Kathy

4 GR8 PEOPLE So far this year we have looked specifically at each of the Gr8 People attributes. For the rest of this term we will be celebrating all the attributes instead of focusing on just one. We will be recognising two students each week that demonstrate any of the Gr8 People attributes which are: Caring Positive Knowledgeable Good Communicators Creative Balanced Hardworking Team Players Problem Solvers Fair CLASS STUDENT ATTRIBUTE REASON F/1/2 Skye Taverner Latisha Lewis- Smythe Caring Creative Always showing compassion and patience when working with others For creating colourful and detailed paintings during investigations 3/4 Josh Crack Hard Working For displaying all the qualities of a hard worker this week. 5/6/7 Liam Perrott Meg Malycha Positive Team Player For consistently working hard and being positive towards his work. For being a team player and looking out for others. REMEMBRANCE DAY Last Tuesday all of our students gathered in the Main Street to participate in the Remembrance Day Ceremony. Liam Perrott and Jana McKeough laid a wreath on behalf of our school to pay our respects to our lost soldiers. Thank you to the staff and students for their participation in the day.
