1 Worship God Equip Believers Build Community Share Christ Volume 119 Number 11 June 2015 Mother Zion Joint Worship Service with Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church This Sunday, June 7 at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary Message by Bro. Murray Martin In This Issue Scattered Pearls by Colin Peckham New Member! Ladies Bible Study Fellowship Men s Breakfast Notes of Appreciation VBS Mission Project: Family Emergency Kits for Baptist Global Response June Monthly Calendar Dear Church Family, From Our Pastor We enjoyed sweet fellowship around the occasion of Jordan s five-year anniversary with us. It was a very special time of reflecting on our appreciation of her serving the Lord through First Baptist and was a great time of speaking our hearts to her. Jordan blesses not only our Church family but the entire community in her many expressions of spiritual obedience. The celebration with Jordan came at a difficult time with the loss of Joe Ros, but it emerged as a helpful time of authentic fellowship for us all. I think you will agree with me that what we all observed with Joe s memorial was not only breathtaking but will be an image etched permanently upon our hearts and minds. I believe God will use it in the days ahead for Ashley and the kids to remember and see God s hand in everything. I am looking forward to an experience this summer in the life of our church which we will be calling The Radical Challenge. You will be hearing details and seeing information about this project that hopefully will communicate its potential impact on us all. One very important aspect of this endeavor is the way it has come together among the staff. This project represents complete and total collaboration among your leaders. Often, one of us will have an idea for our own particular area of ministry, and we will help each other think it through and work out any wrinkles. This is different. This emerged out of a discussion about possibly doing Summer Sunday School and then took off in a completely different direction. It was then developed and worked out with valuable input from each one. It was very rewarding to be part of this process. Now, we want you to plan to participate fully in what we truly believe God has put before us. Please be prayerful as you learn more about it. See you Sunday. Will You Accept the Radical Challenge? 3 Scattered Pearls by Colin Peckham Suffering Tune: All the Way My Saviour Leads Me For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye take it patiently? But if, when ye do well and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable to God. 1 Peter 2:20 Oh the blows that shock and stagger As we seek to walk with Him; Through the smart so unexpected, Satan aims our light to dim. Yes, the tides of spirit s anguish, Ruthless sorrow, crushing, slow Do I turn me from this pathway? All my being answers, No! In the depths, I learn such lessons! Love burns fiercer than the flame. Burning in and purifying, Lifting up His precious Name. In the crucible I find Him, Here is fellowship divine, Here the welding heart of suffering Joins fore er His soul to mine. While the tears are falling freely, Leaning hard upon His breast, Songs in darkness rise within us, Inexplicable His rest. Oh the sweetest secrets whispered, As I cling to Him alone, Precious Jesus, precious Jesus, Lost in Him His very own. Scattered Pearls, Poems that Touch the Heart and Challenge the Life by Colin N. Peckham; copyright 2004 Colin Peckham; p. 31. Robert Juni Lopez, Jr. Baptized into our fellowship on May 31 We re are praising God that you ve chosen to walk with our Lord in fellowship with us! 4 VBS Mission Project Information Center Sunday School Report Baptist Global Response (BGR) is a global relief and development organization organized by Southern Baptists to connect people in need with people who care. BGR addresses acute problems such as disasters, wars, and epidemics, as well as chronic issues such as poverty, hunger, and poor health. BGR's "word and deed" initiatives will help you get involved in making a significant difference for needy people worldwide. One blanket makes a difference to a child living in a tent. A little girl, Malaya, fled her home with her parents. The family was forced to leave everything behind, including food and warm clothes. When they reached a safe area, BGR provided them a family emergency kit containing a tent, food and water. Malaya also received a blanket to keep her cozy at night. She took it everywhere. The blanket made her feel safe and warm, and it protected her as the cold winter months arrived. An emergency kit is $150. Date Enroll Attend May May May Average Sunday School Att.
