1 Pastor and church family, My name is Michael Payton, and I have been called to the mission field of Nicaragua. Growing up, my family took summer vacation to Nicaragua to visit relatives, as this is the country where my mother was born and raised. My first language was Spanish; and I went to school in Miami, where I learned to speak English and Spanish fluently. After serving in the Marine Corps, I went to Bible College at Berean Baptist College seeking God s will for my life. During my senior year of college, I counseled with my pastor about missions, and God laid the country of Nicaragua on my heart. Currently, I am on deputation with my wife, Beth, seeking support from churches such as yours as we begin raising funds to help us reach our harvest field. Nicaragua is a beautiful country that is dominated with volcanic mountains, poverty-stricken towns, and Roman Catholicism. My wife and I were able to visit Nicaragua together in December of 2014, and we saw the conditions in which these people live. They live in what we would consider deplorable conditions, but more than financial help the people of Nicaragua need spiritual help. They need the light of the gospel, and God has called me to this country to give them the cold waters for their thirsty soul as described in Proverbs 25:25. The Paytons are answering God s call to take the Gospel to the country of Nicaragua. Nicaragua is a very poor country, but their greatest need is the Gospel. The Paytons present a unique opportunity for supporting churches. Since Bro. Payton s mother is Nicaraguan, he is very familiar with the Nicaraguan culture and the Spanish language. Bro. Mike is already preaching in Spanish; therefore, he will not need to spend time in language school allowing him to immediately begin a church plant upon his arrival in Nicaragua. Bro. Payton already knows several national pastors and has family in Nicaragua as well. I have been to Nicaragua with the Paytons, and I have seen the ability to freely witness and engage the people to which he has much in common. Beth has grown up in our church, and she is a graduate of Berean Baptist College. She has been serving as one of our teachers in our Christian school. Without a doubt, God has called two of our finest for this special task. As you might imagine, the Paytons are eager to get to Nicaragua so they can begin reaching this country with the Gospel. 3 DOCTRINAL STATEMENT BIBLE We believe the King James Bible is the verbal, plenary, inspired Word of God. It is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. We look to it as the final Authority in all matters. John 1:1 GOD We believe in the triune God, three persons in one God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost make up the Trinity. Matthew 28:19; I Corinthians 8:6 SON OF GOD We believe Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He was virgin born, conceived by the Holy Ghost, and was completely God and completely man in one. Luke 1:30-35; Colossions 1:15 SIN God created man in His perfect image; however, man fell by sin and is now completely depraved and lost. Man will die two deaths without the Saviour. The first death is the physical death. The second death is the spiritual death, which is separation from God in a literal and eternal hell. Romans 3:10-23; 6:23 BLOOD ATONEMENT Jesus Christ came down from Heaven to suffer and die for the sins of all mankind. He rose again in bodily form and ascended into Heaven where He sits at the right hand of God the Father interceding for believers. Romans 5:8-10 SALVATION Salvation is by grace alone through Christ's finished work on the cross. Man is lost and must be born again to enter the Kingdom of God. John 3:3-7; Ephesians 2:8-9 SEPARATION We believe that the saved are commanded to stay out of the sin they were saved from. Each saved individual has a responsibility to God to be separated from all worldliness and sinfulness. II Corinthians 5:17; 6:14-18 LOCAL CHURCH A body of baptized believers who are obedient to obey the great commission. It is autonomous and visible. Jesus Christ is the Head of the church and the two offices are pastor and deacon. The two ordinances are baptism and the Lord's supper. Mark 16:15; Eph 3:21 SECOND COMING OF CHRIST The Lord Jesus Christ is coming again in the air at any moment to gather His Church and to reward them for their service; the unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ shall return visibly to the earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. After this the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast in the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord.
