Baptist Men On Mission are the men of the church taking seriously God s call to be the husbands, fathers, mentors and churchmen who He has charged them to be. Being a godly man is the foundation to being part of the Baptist Men On Mission, because a godly man will be a godly husband, a godly father, and a godly mentor. The mission of a Baptist Man On Mission is to: orship God with all my life. bey Christ by serving others through my church. esolve to build relationships that strengthen my family and my church. eep my commitment to join other men in God s mission.

2 "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding." (Proverbs :7) It's the NEW YEAR. Time to make a change, right? Time to turn things around. We call them New Year's Resolutions. Maybe you're into that maybe you're not. Regardless, God's Word tells us to live in and with wisdom & understanding. How do we do that? Let me give us some principles that we can live by as we begin our new year with the Lord. 1. Don't worry, when you're doing your best. God accepts no less than our best effort. But He demands no more. "Trust in the Lord, and do good and he will give you the desires of your heart!" (Psalm. 37:3-). It's the truth that I have stated so many times. God doesn't desire us to BE the best, as in being better than everyone else. Pride will slip in your life if you're not careful. But He desires us to DO our best, give Him the glory, and He will be honored. 2. Don't hurry, when success depends on accuracy. Life takes time. Character & integrity take years to be developed in our lives. The lack of the same takes very little time. You can't buy character on-line at some website for $39.95! God's people need to slow down and take the time to build the faith, obedience, and character that God desires us to have. "Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty" (Proverbs 21:5). Shortcuts and cutting corners will not work for God's people or for His church. Do the hard work of growing. You'll never regret it. 3. Don't form conclusions until you have all the facts. Somehow, someway I think GOSSIP fits into this principle. Of course, that's so often what gossip is forming conclusions when we don't have the facts at all. But even in normal situations, everyone you meet has unmet needs, unhealed wounds and unfulfilled hopes. If you want people to evaluate you by your best qualities, rather than your worst, "Do to others as you would like them to do to you." (Luke 6:31).. Don't believe a thing is impossible without trying it. Isn't that basically a 'lack of faith?' Isn't God in control of our lives? Then we need to quit assuming the worst in our lives and in our church. We need to stop thinking that God can't & won't do anything in our midst. God will do more than we can ever imagine if we will just have faith as a mustard seed. When you are in God's Will, doing things God's way, being sensitive to the leadership of His Holy Spirit, your problems and struggles are just a platform for Him to work on your behalf (see Rom. 8:28). 5. Don't waste your time on trivial matters. In order to put first things first, you must ask the question, "What is it that only I can do, or do best?" Only when you've answered that question will you know what you should do. 6. Don't think that good intentions are an acceptable excuse for doing nothing. We need to examine our lives. Are we a "talker" or a "doer?" You need to get specific about your diet and your devotions, your finances and your family, etc. Think on these words "If it's to be, it's up to me." James wrote, "So you see, faith by itself isn t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless." ( James 2:17, NLT). So, Happy New Year! May these principles help your life in some way. But please remember this God is not a principle. He is the LIVING God of all things the creator of heaven and earth. 3 HEY YOUth! Welcome to 2012! I m excited about what God is doing and what He will do for us as we walk with HIM these next 12 months. Let s see what s going on for youth in JANUARY 12!! Our LifeFOCUS Bible study is U2 CULTURAL CONFUSION. Since the worldly view encourages young people to base their thinking and beliefs on what the POPULAR CULTURE endorses, this five week study will look at issues which affect our culture; A FAST FOOD CULTURE ; A SENSUAL CULTURE ; AN EXPENDABLE CULTURE ; A DIVIDED CULTURE ; and A GREEDY CULTURE. We continue to encourage YOU th to discern between their worldly culture and what the BIBLE teaches. This month s lessons will challenge them to OWN their faith as they stand for Christ in the middle of a culture that seems to no longer understand truth. I look forward to seeing YOU there! DT studies this month will be, HOW TO USE YOUR HEAD TO GUARD YOUR HEART A 3 (D) GUIDE to making responsible media choices, by Walt Mueller. We will also offer this study to the parents too (Wednesday, January 25 6 pm) and next month, Sunday night) A great resource for all who see media today! Overtime this month will be January 8 th, Wii video games and January 22 nd, Johnny Pizza, starting at 7:15 pm. We are going ICE SKATING on January 16 th. the church 9:50 am to 10:00 am for LR. We will eat first at the PURPLE 12:15 pm. Then, we will skate from 1:00 pm 3:00 pm. We should be back at the 6:00 pm. Our annual BAPTIST MEN S MOBC is January 29 th. We will have our breakfast and 7:30 am. Men s Choir will be singing that morning too. See you there Sunday morning! The Senior Adults will be busy in January too! Your schedule looks like this: Homebound visits 9 am 11 am January 9 th. Monthly meeting January 17 MOBC fellowship hall 11:30 am Going to Springhill Community Singing January 23 rd. Y@H Choir practice on January 2 th. are available in the front foyer. And, we are taking reservations for the MAYBERRY DINNER THEATER (FBC, Monticello) now. Cost is $ 18 per person. You must pay for your ticket by January 16 th. This is open to everyone! In Christian Love, will be available in the front foyer by January 31.

4 Jesus is Snow good to us. Snow lets celebrate January with Him. JAM (Jesus And Me) Wednesday Schedule: Jan th Snow good fireworks. Bring your favorite fireworks and we will celebrate in MOBC s parking lot. Jan 11 th New Year Salvation Bible study. Jan 25 th Joseph & his Coat of Snow many Colors RA s & GA s continue at 7 PM Jan 7 th (Saturday) - Preteen Invasion Evangelism Conference. Conference just for th -6 th graders at Louisiana College in Pineville, LA. Leave MOBC 5:5 AM. Cost $50 for 2 meals, Yancy in Concert, OMC games & conference. Jan 8 th Snow Cone Sunday Come to Sunday School and get a Snow Cone!
