1 St. Luke s United Methodist Church 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown, Virginia July 17, th Sunday after Pentecost w w w w w w w (w All are invited to stand.) (Resource Key: UMH United Methodist Hymnal; TFWS The Faith We Sing) WELCOME AND NEWS OF THE CHURCH ALIVE (Please register your attendance.) PRELUDE A Prayer of Quiet Thankfulness arr. Fenton Groden (Please observe this time as an opportunity for silent prayer and meditation.) CALL TO WORSHIP* (Psalm 52, Colossians 1) We come to your house seeking your presence, O God. For in the mystery of our universe, you created all things in heaven and on earth and reconciled all things to you, by and in Jesus Christ. So we stand before you steadfast in the hope promised by our brother, Jesus. Amen. RECOGNITION OF GUESTS w RITUAL OF FRIENDSHIP w OPENING HYMN, No TFWS Come and Find the Quiet Center CELEBRATION OF APPOINTMENT OF YOUTH PASTOR, TIM CRAFT (on screen) CONCERNS AND CELEBRATIONS UNISON PRAYER Patient Lord, we schedule our lives down to the very second. We crowd in as much activity as we can and then wonder why we are so stressed out and tired. We are afraid to miss out on anything. And when it comes time to be with others we spend our time worrying about details rather than longing for the visit. Forgive us when we get so caught up in the details and miss the opportunity to sit at your feet, learning, listening, growing in our faith. Help us to place ourselves in your care. Slow us down, just a bit, so that we can see the wonders you have placed before us and truly enjoy and share the blessings you have given to us. For we ask this in Jesus Name. Amen. PASTORAL PRAYER THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

2 Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. OFFERTORY PRAYER OFFERTORY Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior arr. Anthony Giamanco w DOXOLOGY, No. 94 UMH Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures here below: Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise God, the source of all our gifts!
