Sister also offers her personal view on new sins for the modern millennium (reality television, cloning and Botox injections are high on her list). Contact Lynn at lynncorazao@sbcglobal.net or to reserve your seat. Houston Cisterns Tour & Lunch Jan. 27 (Sat.) From 1965 to 1968, LBJ struggles to fight a war on poverty even as his war in Vietnam spins out of control. Besieged by political opponents, Johnson marshals all his political wiles while the country descends into chaos over the war and backlash against civil rights. Tickets are $25. Contact Lynn at lynncorazao@sbcglobal.net or (8 tix remain) Hobby Wings & Wheels Feb. 17 (Sat.) Support the 1940 Air Terminal Museum! Feb :15 PM Salt Grass Steakhouse Feb. 24 (Sat.) 7:30 PM Ann - Indomitable Texas Governor Ann Richards is brought to life by the incomparable Sally Edmundson in a one-woman tour-de-force. Contact Lynn at lynncorazao@sbcglobal.net or Tom Jones in Concert May 16 (Wed.) 8 PM at Smart Financial Center This event was originally scheduled for Oct. 3 but was recently changed. The cost is $66 each. Contact SheriKelley@mdumc.org. (waiting list) Emmanuel Ax and the Rites of Spring May 18 (Sat.) 8:00 PM Houston Symphony presents Emmanuel Ax and the Rites of Spring. Experience Stravinsky s revolutionary Rite like never before when Andrés teams up with Klaus Obermaier and Ars Electronica Futurelab for a performance featuring innovative dancing and 3-D visual effects. World-renowned pianist Emanuel Ax offers the perfect contrast to Stravinsky s wild score with Mozart s refined Piano Concerto No. 27, his final work in the genre. To open the concert, Ax joins Houston Symphony musicians for some lively chamber music. Special pricing for mid-orchestra seats - just $38. We have reserved 10 seats for what promises to be a sold-out performance. Contact Lynn at lynncorazao@sbcglobal.net or to reserve your seat now. May 26 (Sat.) 7:30 PM The Replica - In the near future, a woman with a terminal illness volunteers for an experimental procedure that would allow her memories, mannerisms and personality to live on in her Replica. But what was created as a duplicate soon takes on a life
5 of its own. This World Premiere sci-fi thriller is penned by Mickey Fisher, creator of the television series Extant and Mars and the upcoming series Reverie. Tickets are available for $27. Contact Lynn at or Meet Up Group We now have a Meet Up group, named Activities Galore for Houston Singles 40+. We call ourselves Singles in Action. Just go to and join at no cost. A Note from our Golf Pro My name is John Fontana, PGA Instructor since 1990 and a native Houstonian. We are well into our 9 th year offering professional instruction to all church members and friends who have a DESIRE to learn or improve the Fundamentals of the golf swing... and we do all of this in the comfort of The Gate on Saturday mornings! The cost (which is a contribution to the church) is only $10/class. Any skill level is welcome! You may reach me at jcfgolf@sbcglobal.net. See you at the next class! What a Time We Had! We had a wonderful time Friday night listening to good music after completing the Soupmobile lunches. Saturday, we took 29 people to dinner at Ciro s and on to see Christmas lights. Thanks to Bruce for coordinating his first event! Sunday a group of 16 went to see A Very Merry Pops. It was really well done and made us all joyful in spite of the rain! Don t miss the Christmas program in the Sanctuary on the 10 th word on the street is that it will be very special this year!!
