June at 9:30 am We need your input. As we prepare for next year, we would like to hear from parents about their children's and family's needs, ideas, and preferences for family and youth ministry. The F&Y Committee is hosting a one-hour discussion (child care will be available for our youngest) this Sunday, 17. June, between services, from 9:30-10:30 am. While this discussion will help with planning for next year, we'd like to brainstorm what possible changes and new elements can be incorporated into Trinity's ministry both short-and long-term to ensure our ministry remains alive, engaging and serving the needs of all ages. The first portion of the meeting will provide a brief overview of current activities and how F&Y's ministry interfaces with Worship activities and Christian Education. Ideas, recommendations, and general feedback are always welcome. Can't make it? F&Y will be preparing a survey based on input gathered at meeting So stay tuned! Pledging for Mission as of 10. June Annual Planning Meeting Wednesday 27. June BIGGER Than A Building! 66 families have pledged $479,040 to our 3-year mission appeal. Total amount received for BTAB! is $422, as of 10. June. Thank you for your generous support. Attention, all Committee Team Leaders, Liaisons, and Staff: The annual planning meeting for the Trinity Program Booklet will be Wednesday 27. June at 7:30 pm. Please bring your calendars for the year to insert meetings, rehearsals, and special events into Trinity's master calendar for the program year. 2

3 Meet Our Afghan Families Potluck Dinner Saturday 23. June at 5:30 pm Join us for a potluck dinner on Saturday 23. June, at 5:30 pm with the special guests being the Afghan families we have co-sponsored in p a r t n e r s h i p w i t h Lutheran Social Services (LSS). This is your opportunity to meet Aziz and Sediqa and Shahpur and Hilay and their children. Bring a main dish, side, salad or dessert to share, and enjoy an evening of fine food and fellowship. Beverages will be provided. Halal meat is their only dietary restriction, so please label your dish if made with halal meat to help our Afghan friends with their choices at the buffet table. Everything else is fine. Labels for all dishes may help them with unfamiliar foods. Please contact Lynn B or Kathy T with any questions. See you there! Summer Music 2018 We would love to hear you during worship during the offering or during the Communion during Sundays in late June, plus all of July and August. Please sign up on the sheet located on the Bulletin Board near the Social Hall Kitchen. Summer Worship One Service! July - August and Labor Day Weekend Starting 1. July and running through Labor Day weekend, 2. September, Trinity will be holding one Sunday service at 10:00 am, followed by Coffee Hour at 11:15 am. This is a great opportunity to meet Trinity members who normally attend that other service. You'll also leave church in plenty of time to enjoy the summer sunshine! Trinitarian Newsletter Double Issue for July-August Deadline: Monday 18. June Please submit your article contributions to the church office by Monday 18. June for this, the last issue before September. Thank you. The Word in Season for July-September daily devotionals are now available in the Social Hall. World Refugee Day Event June 20 at Sandy Spring Museum Wednesday, 20 June, from 7-9 pm, Sandy Spring Museum will host a special event to celebrate World Refugee Day. This is a special day to commemorate the strength, courage, and resilience of the estimated 65.6 million people who have been displaced from their homes. Speakers from CASA de Maryland, Lutheran Social Services, International Rescue Committee, and other local organizations will share information on the current immigration crisis. Event attendees will also meet the artists of the current exhibit, Uprooted: The Art of Refugees, view their artwork and hear their individual stories and personal journeys. 6 New Wine, the high school drama g r o u p f r o m C l o q u e t, M N presented Les Misé rable s at Trinity on Monday 11. June. The 50 students in the cast and nine adults stayed two nights at Trinity, sleeping on most every horizontal surface available. They left this thank you note, when they left on W e d n e s d a y morning. They were effusive in appreciation for the hospitality, the worship space f o r t h e i r performance, the largest offering t h e y e v e r received, and the food. But the big h i t w a s T H E S H O W E R S installed by the Jacobson Design / Build firm of N. Bethesda! O n e s t u d e n t wrote: We are so grateful for you providing this c h u r c h a n d showers! When Mike J heard the suggestion that we change the name the sign to TRINITY CHURCH & SHOWERS, Mike said that the sign should read TRINITY CHURCH & SHOWERS (seasonal only) See pictures of the showers on the next page!

7 Two shower stalls with running warm water. Changing / Waiting Area This was the 5 th day of their 11 day tour and Trinity was the only church with showers. New Wine is a Christian youth drama/musical ministry of Zion Lutheran Church in Cloquet. The group's name is inspired by the 5th chapter of Luke where Jesus challenges us to get rid of the old categories in which we've thought about religion and relationship with God, and pour our New Wine into new wineskins. The group promotes Christian fellowship, friendship, and understanding among the students, who come from varied religious backgrounds and traditions. The group is in its 26th year. This year's group consists of 53 9 th 12 th grade students from area schools and represents 22 congregations of various denominations. Th e Vanity We strive to: Create a spiritual growth experience for youth that is fun, meaningful, and has positive impact in their lives. Build a sense of Christian community within our youth that spans denomination. Contribute to a growing, caring, and fun high school peer group through shared activities and growth experiences. Share God's word through contemporary music and drama with audiences across North America.
