3 April 2, TODAY S WORSHIP NOTES Lent/Easter Theme PICTURE JESUS Each week, we are invited to picture Jesus, to examine a particular dimension of the person and work of Jesus from the Gospel of John. March 5 - Jesus, The Bread of Life TODAY - Jesus, The Footwasher March 12 - Jesus, The Living Water April 09 - Jesus, The King March 19 - Jesus, The Miracle Worker GOOD FRIDAY - Jesus, The Lamb March 26 - Jesus, The Good Shepherd EASTER - Jesus, The Resurrection and the Life Visuals: Picture Frames / Painting For each week, the theme will be illustrated by a painting, unveiled during the Children s Moment. Along the way, a growing gallery of a variety of portraits will be displayed. The portraits will be painted by individuals at DRC. The backdrop of empty picture frames has been added to compliment the look of an art gallery. The Season of Lent & Easter Lent spans 40 days beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending the Saturday before Easter, excluding Sundays (this year: March 1 st April 15 th ). Today is the fifth Sunday of Lent. The number 40 is connected with many biblical events, but especially with the forty days Jesus spent in the wilderness preparing for His ministry by facing temptations that could lead him to abandon his mission and calling. Lent is ultimately a preparation to celebrate God s marvelous redemption at Easter, and the resurrected life that we live, and hope for, as Christians. During Lent, we re encouraged to slow down the pace of our lives, to think reflectively and devotionally about our relationship with God by focusing on the person and work of our Saviour. Visuals: Purple Fabric The colour purple is the colour of royalty, and so anticipates through the suffering and death of Jesus coming and hope of newness that will be celebrated in the resurrection on Easter Sunday.

7 April 2, Announcements 2017 Elder and Deacon Nomination ballots have been placed in all communicant members mail slots. Please complete your ballot and place it in the black box located on the table outside of the sanctuary. If you did not receive a ballot or have misplaced yours, please contact the church office. Today is the last day to submit your nomination. Dear Congregation, As we progress through 2017, there are some capital expenses in our budget that we need to begin working on. The first priority will be to pay for the replacement of the Parsonage roof. This will essentially empty out our General account. Currently we are under budget in our offerings, so we ask that you prayerfully consider this when preparing your offering in the coming weeks. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. Deacons of Drayton Reformed Church Are you sending your child to CAMP SHALOM this summer? Camp Shalom discounts are now available! $ per camper is available. Please use the online discount code. If you have any questions, please contact Derek B Connection Centre We are looking for two individuals to help at the Connection Centre. If you are available to assist with this one time per month commitment, we would love to hear from you. Please connect with Kathy F for more information. 8 April 2, The Spiritual Life Team/Committee is busy in the planning stages for a COUPLE S NIGHT OUT here at DRC on Saturday, April 8 7 PM! Along with a coffee house, there will also be a video The Tale of Two Brains by Mark Gungor (markgungor.com) from Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage. Mark is an international speaker on marriage and family, and Senior Pastor at Celebration Church which has several locations across Wisconsin. Mark has a gift for communication and humour, using his gifts to encourage couples towards a healthy God-directed marriage. We would like to encourage couples from DRC to invite your friends, neighbours to come as well. We will be handing out free tickets for the event following worship this morning to share among your family and friends.
9 April 2, if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 Ready to Take the Next Step in Your Faith Journey By Saying YES to God And Publicly Professing Your Faith in Jesus as Your Saviour and Lord? Pastor Daniel and Pastor Duane will be offering a profession of faith/new members class beginning shortly after Easter. There will be a total of 5 sessions. The dates and times will be determined based on availability. Public Profession of Faith will take place on Sunday, June 4 th, If you are interested in attending, please contact either Pastor Daniel or Pastor Duane Perhaps you re not quite sure about taking this next step and you have questions such as: WHY SHOULD I MAKE A PUBLIC PROFESSION OF MY FAITH? AM I READY TO PUBLICLY PROFESS MY FAITH? WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A MEMBER OF A CHURCH? WHAT WILL I LEARN IN THE CLASS? Perhaps the idea of sharing your faith in public produces anxiety, and the fear factor is keeping you from making a public profession of faith. Whether you have questions or there is a fear factor, please do not hesitate to contact: Pastor Daniel (pastordaniel@draytonreformed.org) or Pastor Duane (pastorduane@draytonreformed.org). QUESTIONS OF FAITH [AND DOUBT] - Attention, Young Adults! Are you wondering where you can plug in at church? Are you curious about what might be next for you in faith? Do you have questions you feel church has yet to answer or address? Consider attending an evening of food, friends, and faith talk in the Sr. Youth room (downstairs) on FRIDAY, APRIL 7 at 7:30 p.m. This will be a casual, open forum for questions and discussion, hosted by Pastor Daniel (He will probably use his whiteboard). Come with an appetite, come with a friend, and come with questions. Hope to see you there!
