A New Years message from the Head Boy and Girl Welcome back everyone. We hope that you had a lovely Christmas and New year. We hope that you are all pushing yourself to do your very best now that you are back in College. Year 11 don t forget this is the final push! We should all be attending revision classes and intervention. As well as this we should be pushing ourselves to revise at home. We can all get fantastic results! Remember Failing to prepare is preparing to fail

Fundraising Last term we had a Feel Good Friday to support CRISIS, a homeless charity. We were really happy to see everyone wearing their own clothes, buying cakes and sending a choc-o-gift to their friends or favourite teacher. As a result we managed to raise:

Leominster Food Bank As a College we always try and help our local community. Once again, this year we chose to try and raise stock for Leominster Food Bank. Last year as a College we raised 550 cans, for this reason we set an even higher target of 600 cans! Thanks to your help we managed to raise: 850 items We smashed the target! Well done and thank you to all that donated!

Leominster Food Bank

Leominster Food Bank We visited Leominster Food Bank and took down the donations. After interviewing the Volunteers Phoebe Spencer has been asked to write an article for the Leominster News and Hereford Times. Watch this space!

Behaviour around the College We are happy to report that many of you believe that behaviour around the college is really good! An area that we could improve on however is clearing up after break and lunch. If we look after our College, we and future generations can continue to enjoy what many other students aren t lucky enough to have. The litter fairy doesn t exist, pick it up and bin it!

Anti bullying You should have noticed some new anti-bullying posters around the College. We are continuing to promote: #makeanoiseaboutbullying Remember you can approach anyone with an ABC, SMSC or College Council badge for help about bullying. Alternatively type ABC mentors into your and our direct link will pop up. Don t be silent, make a noise and help us stamp out bullying!

Introducing British Values We have all been taking part in creating a British Values word cloud for Miss Anderson. The results are in and you have had great ideas. Over the next few weeks you will take part in more British Values activities in Tutor Time. The work produced will be displayed to highlight EMC s BEST OF BRITISH ideas. Watch this space!

What is Britishness? Royalty Multicultural British Empire Respect Rainy Stiff upper lip Full English Breakfast David Beckham Freedom of speech Patriotic United Forgiving Charity Democracy Tennis Buckingham Palace Shakespeare Courage Uniform Security Safety Success Pride Strawberries and cream London Agricultural Religion Sport Justice Neighbourly Powerful Harry Potter Tolerance Doctor Who GREAT IDEAS EVERYONE Red phone box Fish and Chips Roast Dinner Greenery Polite Respectful Tea solves everything Tradition Tourism Bull dog Queueing Football Rugby rivalry Big Ben Double decker Cucumber sandwich Bangers and mash Friendly BBC Eastenders Union Jack Chippy-tea

Extremism and Radicalisation This term we met with Miss Anderson, Mrs Joules and Mr Wharam to discuss the threat of radicalisation. The College Council and SMSC team thought that understanding radicalisation was very important, especially in today s world. To help you understand the problems we are working with Miss Anderson and Mrs Joules to create displays and resources. We hope that this we help educate you on the dangers and what to look out for. Watch this space!

Have your say! Remember! As a College Council we love to hear your views. If you have any suggestions on how to make EMC a better place, have your say! All opinions and ideas can be put into the Student Voice box located in the library. Without your voice we can t make a difference!
